The annual District Conference will take place May 17-20 in beautiful Sun Valley! This is our once a year opportunity to rub shoulders with hundreds of Rotarians from all over the District. We'll have great speakers, awesome entertainment and great meals! We'll meet all the District Youth Exchange Kids and have opportunities for training in areas such as ClubRunner, Membership and more! We'll have auctions, line dancing and the impressive Club Showcase. Sign up now by clicking here. You can also reserve your room at the Sun Valley Lodge. (There are less expensive alternatives in Ketchum, but nowhere near as cool!)
50% for matching Paul Harris points, this helps Rotary International in all of the great work they do.
25% to support the Youth Exchange program.
25% will be rebated back to your club, if a small club can sell 25 books of tickets they will receive about $500. If a larger club sells 50 books of tickets they will receive about $1000. This rebate is subject to the club sending at least one member to the conference.
If a member truly is about Service above self and is a Person of Action and has the income to do so; to ask him or her to purchase a book of tickets is not too much to ask.
Please have your raffle person promote this raffle at each meeting. Set a goal to sell at least one book 0f tickets per two members. Someone will win. Remember the seller of a book of tickets also will win the grand prize. If you sell the book to yourself; you will double the prize for a total of $9,000.
Please feel free to call me at 1-208-412-9411 or email me if you have any questions about the raffle.
The drawing will be at the district conference; one does not have to present to win.
The online RYLA 2018 application is available. Have student search for Idaho RYLA or go to http://IdahoRYLA.org. The dates for RYLA camp are July 26 - 29.
We have a RYLA student handout available that you, or a school counselor, can use to recruit students. If you need any other information or would like someone to speak to your club about RYLA, please let us know.
RYLA is open to incoming juniors to outgoing seniors in high school. Each student's fee is sponsored by a District 5400 Rotary club with the RYLA camp being held in Idaho. We will accept applications until May 20th or when the camp is full. Please have your interested students include your club name (Boise Metro Rotary) when they apply. As we get applications, we will forward them to the matching club. Ultimately, it is the club that decides which students are sponsored.
District 5400 RYLA has a long tradition transforming teenagers lives. Start recruiting students in your area so they can experience the Rotary magic in service above self.
Boise Metro Rotary will be having our Changing of the Guard ceremony at River Pointe Park (behind GC Library) on June 9th. More details to follow, but please mark your calendars for a fun fellowship. Our Club was instrumental in creating the park, and we recently completed a refurbishment of the park's signage and installed a few new benches. Between our work and the Bee Pollinator group, its a beautiful setting alongside the river. We'll recognize the outgoing leadership team, and welcome the start of Jeff Dinwiddie's Presidency and his leadership team.
You will be learning a lot more about Rotary Zones. Since its happening in our District ( a rare occurrence) we will be asked to volunteer in lots of ways to make it a success. Stay tuned............
