Our guests this week will be Cami Hill and Stephanie Grover from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Idaho. "Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever."
The sale of commemorative bricks represents about half of the total cost of our $60,000 Greenbelt project. Our goal is to sell 500 bricks by the end of May. The on-line order form is up and running at http://www.bricks.boisemetrorotary.org. Everything you could want to now about the project is on the club homepage under the "Greenbelt project" tab. You can also pick up a supply of brochures to put at critical locations and hand out to your friends, family and neighbors. And we have T-shirts available for ten bucks. Alli will have her laptop at the meeting on Tuesday - she'll show you how easy it is to order bricks!!
We are also looking for groups that might like to hear our presentation. John and Dave are presenting at Meridian 4/24 and Western Treasure Valley 4/26.....maybe our own club 5/2. Anyone interested in a road trip? We'll set up a display at District Conference and we're checking into having a table at the Capital District Farmers Market (in lieu of our washed out Lemonade Stand). Stay tuned...........
Its that time of year! District 5400's annual raffle tickets sales supports a variety of youth programs like Youth Exchange and RYLA. A portion will come back to the clubs to help defray the cost of attendance. We are each asked to sell 10 tickets. Please make checks payable to Boise Metro Rotary so we can send one check to District Conference. The winner receives a $4500 AAA Travel credit. Whomever sells the winning ticket also gets $4500! So, if you buy all ten yourself, your chances improve dramatically! Tickets are due MAY 10TH!! ( I have been assured that we have been given the "good" tickets). There are also a number of lesser prizes!
Steve Merrill from Boise Sunrise paid us a visit recently. First, he wanted to report that the Land Cruiser that was purchased for Gorongoza through a Rotary Global Grant that we participated in has been delivered! Second, he's invited us to participate in the second annual Rotary Night at the Zoo, which was so much fun last year as a Gorongoza fund raiser. This time it'll be a fund raiser for the Zoo, with a portion going back to the clubs who participate. The event will be Thursday May 4th. Tickets will be $20 for adults, $10 for kids. This is a fun event for the whole family!!
Our guests last week were Michela Swarthout from Centennial Rotary and James Hepworth......Janice spent a week at Disneyworld with four teenagers...YIKES...admitted to a meltdown.....I understood a lot of last week's speaker - great teacher!.........Cornelia and John represented our club at the KISS-FM CycletoBreaktheCycle event at The Village on Sunday. Good workout on nice spin bikes........the Wine Tour is next Saturday...the bus is full.........reminder, just so ya know, guest lunches are $10, give the money to the Sargent at Arms.....
