In December of 2020, Greater Boise Rotary Foundation granted the YMCA $20,000 for the School Day Plus program.  School Day Plus offers flexible, in-person child care for school-age children as well as online learning support at eight locations across the Treasure Valley.  The program aligns with adjusted school district calendars and online learning and provides academic support.

From August-December 2020 the School Day Plus program served 693 students and is currently serving approximately 418 youth.  For parents who have to work outside the home, this program makes both working and quality learning possible.  The full-time teachers accommodate the varied student schedules and guide them through their online day.

Parents have thanked the teachers and others at the Y for the financial aid that made it possible for their children to attend this vital program; for the patience teachers demonstrate daily with students; for the tireless efforts made to keep students safe and healthy; for helping with all the school work; for putting up with sometimes difficult attitudes; and for just being there when needed.

This is just one essential program that GBRF has supported this year.  Every application received by GBRF reflects a program worthy of funding, and our hope is that in the future we can support more of these programs every year.  The corpus of Greater Boise Rotary Foundation is only $100,000 short of $1million.  When we reach that goal, GBRF grants would provide at least $50,000 of ongoing funding each year.  That is $50,000 that Ada County nonprofits will put to work to help our neighbors in need.

Thank you to every Rotary member who has made this possible.  If you’d like to be part of the change you’d like to see in our community, think about making a monthly contribution to GBRF  HERE.

2020 was a very difficult year for everyone, but with the incredible support of the Rotary members who have contributed to the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation (GBRF), we were able to help a number of people in need. Please see the impact that your donations have had in this month's post.

Please know that the small grant season is upon us. If you enjoy reading about the work GBRF was able to support at our local YMCA, consider making a donation to increase the amount and number of grants we are able to award this spring. You will help people right here in your hometown. Thank you!
