The first area of focus for Rotary International is Promoting Peace. Rotary International has a long history of efforts to promote peace throughout the world. These efforts, both big and small, have resulted in some great achievements.

There are many layers to the concept of promoting peace. Peace is not just the absence of war or conflict. It is about the peace of knowing where the next meal is coming from, ending polio, where one is going to sleep, free from mental / medical or family issues.

I would invite your clubs to think about what you can do on Saturday, September 21, 2024, to let your community know about Rotary's commitment of promoting peace. It does not have to be a grand event but an effort to promote peace.

The event could be as simple as inviting other service clubs, churches, schools and others to join you in a Peace Walk. Providing a meal to the unhoused, supporting a mental health effort, collecting needed supplies for a shelter or a program for at risk youth. Promote your event locally through social and traditional media.

I am sure you members can think of a great 'pop-up' service project to promote peace in your community. Whatever your club does please let us know about your event so we can share the great service is providing.
