Our program this week will be Jim Carpenter, Chief Operations Officer for the Idaho Department of Transportation. He's beern a highway engineer for the 28 years in the department.

Boise Metro Rotary is blessed with some really impressive women! The Idaho Business Review has honored both Janice Fulkerson and Carrie Westergard in their annual "Women of the Year" edition. And Allison Dunn was awarded the "Breakout Coach of the Year" by her company, Action Coach.  Click on the links for more details on these remarkable women!

There are two community volunteer programs for us to consider:

March 12th - United Way and Red Cross are participating in a national campaign to go door to door installing smoke detectors, or replacing batteries. Organizers are lining up teams to work the neighborhoods for a few hours that afternoon.

April 11-15 - United Way has been collecting books. They now have thousands that need to be cleaned and sorted. We're thinking maybe an afternoon from 4-6 followed by dinner, or maybe dinner then 6-8. Still to be determined.

(Note: our offer to cook hot dogs for a Senior Games event has been moved, again. This time to May 28th)

The Greenbelt project is moving along. The Tunnels on one side have been completed; now they start on the other side - hope they meet in the middle! We're waiting to hear from the City Parks guys to finalize our site location. In the meantime, we delivered the proceeds of our District Block Grant to Fundraisers, Ltd, our brick maker.

Cornelia is honeymooning in Thailand for three weeks. Its been a real culinary adventure! You can follow her blog posts here.

Our guests last week were Natalie Chatfield, Dave Wilson, Matt Bliss, and Jon Bart.......watch for a TV ad by Idaho Gives - Alli and Scott are actors!......our speaker last week, Steve Woodworth CEO of Idaho Youth Ranch, was enlightening. Allan Bosch and Jon Bart serve on their Board.......Jon Bart stopped by let us know about a fundraiser for the Sierra Leone project on March 8th (that project has apparently suffered a severe setback with a fire in the cassava fields).....Newbies to Fundraisers. Ltd found the tour amazing!
