Our guest this week will be Lauren Necochea, Director, Idaho Voices for Children & Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy.
The Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy conducts research and provides information about Idaho tax and budget issues, with particular emphasis on how our state pays for vital government services including education, public health and safety, and transportation. By offering data, reports, and commentary, we aim to be an essential source for understanding Idaho’s state budget and tax policies.
In case you haven't been over by Joe's Crabshack this week, construction has started on the new section of Greenbelt! They've started digging a tunnel under Main St. We were hoping to have a "Groundbreaking" party, but I guess that's not going to happen. So now we wait and watch as the construction progresses until we get a sense of exactly where our rest area will be located. Go take a look!!
The last of our deliveries of dictionaries to third graders has been completed! Charles and Mary went up to Idaho City. They report the kids were excited to get a "regular book" - not electronic. Kim and Janice heard a kid say "I want to do that every day!". Thanks to everyone for helping with this long standing project.
The long awaited Ride for Polio is next Saturday in Tucson. Our club will have 8 representatives, including Cahill, Don and Mary, Jeff and others. Its a grueling 104 miles. Its not too late to make a pledge to support Polio Plus. Between the Rotary Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, your contribution will be matched 3:1!! This is one of the premier bike rides in the country, with more than 9,000 riders in last years' event. The goal is to raise $3.4 million!
