THIS WEEK -A COP
This week Cory Russell, an investigator at the Ada County Sheriff's Office, will explain the inner workings of his department. The Department has a really interesting website. Check it out here.
WE'RE AT GARDENS AGLOW TUESDAY NIGHT
Below is an outline of what our club has volunteered to do Tuesday evening.  If you would like to trade with someone, Karen at IBG has indicated that they can accommodate some changes.  We don’t  have anyone on parking or fire duty.

We have a few more volunteers than officially needed – and that is good news we can work to our advantage!  Given the expected low, low temperature, this will allow ensure someone can slip in to the refreshment tent or another location where heaters are located, and take in the lights, too.  This will be a welcome opportunity given that the temperatures are predicted to be very c-o-l-d!  Let’s make sure we don’t have any safety or health issues due to the temperatures.  For example, they asked for 2 ticket takers, we have 4.  The can trade-off during the evening with each other or with someone else who may need to seek a heater for a time.

I am wearing many layers that include my snow pants, snow boots, and bringing those warmer things that go inside my gloves.  I highly recommend you each consider the temperature and plan accordingly so it’s fun.

HOT DOGS FOR SENIOR ATHLETES
We have agreed to assist the Idaho Senior Games with a new event on May 21st. The actual Games don't happen until August, but organizers wanted to start a new tradition of having a fun run/walk/ social event. They'll map out a 2.5 mile course in Julia Davis Park. We have agreed to cook and serve a lunch of hot dogs and beans. Hard to tell, but they estimate 100 people. So put it on your calendar now!
WE DELIVER TO SEMILLA NUEVA
Many Rotary Clubs in the Treasure Valley have been supporting the efforts of Semilla Nueva in Guatemala. We have just contributed $500 toward their Strong Seeds Campaign to provide seed corn for next years' planting.

DO YOU HAVE A PET PEEVE?
Mine is that people (and towns/cities/neighborhood associations/businesses) don't clear their sidewalks when it snows! I understand that as a matter of policy, Boise Public Works does not plow residential streets. But when the homeowners don't clear their sidewalks, it becomes impossible to be a pedestrian. A glance at the weather report clearly shows that it won't melt any time soon. So much for my 10,000 steps!

What's your pet peeve?
