BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY 7:30 THE PANTRY
THIS WEEK - ZOO BOISE AND GORONGOSA NP
This week we'll learn about how Zoo Boise's focus has changed in recent years to concentrate on conservation. Their support of Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique is a fascinating story of collaboration. We'll welcome Steve Burns, Director of Zoo Boise. He's also the Chairman of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. He'll be joined by Jim Hansen a long time member of the Boise Sunrise Rotary Club and a huge supporter of the Zoo.
TIME TO ELECT NEW OFFICERS
Our club by-laws say that we have to elect club officers to take office as the new Rotary year which starts July 1. President-elect Scott Swan has asked that anyone who might be interesting in serving the club in an official position to let him know. Being a club officer is great fun!! And the pay is awesome! Once a slate is completed, the official election will take place at our Dec 22nd club meeting.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GARDENS AGLOW
Putting this on the calendars for those who can participate... December 29th.  The Botanical Gardens is asking for 15 total volunteers. This is family friendly and fun.

These are the opportunities:  Greeters: greeting and directing guests to activities in the Garden;  Admissions: greeting and directing guests to closest payment window;  Ticket takers: tearing and checking tickets at Garden Gate; Entrance Refreshments: serving hot cocoa and cider in the Folly;  General Support and Reliever: transporting cocoa and cider to folly, serving the volunteers refreshments, assisting where needed.

Please let Janice know what you'd like to do!
ODDS 'N ENDS
The field trip to the Mexican Consulate was fun!  We had so many attend - Rotarians and guests - that we didn't have any food left over. The Consulate in Idaho covers Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Nevada.  They are busy!  The Current Consulate has been leading the office here in Boise for 6 months and is looking forward to a long tenure....... Jennifer Spencer  a guest from the Girls Scouts was in attendance as Janice's guest;  John Schuban's wife attended,  Nate and Will also brought guests.  ......  The Holiday Party was well attending and there were 6 types of Chili to enjoy, including one made with pheasant, a vegetarian, and more!  ...... Janice's vegetarian chili took first place with Mary Reiman's spicy chili taking #2 in the blind vote.   Jeff Larsen recognized the two chili cook-off winners were going on the bike ride he's organizing in July so he's hoping to eat well on the trip! .......  Jeff and Julie Dinwiddie have a spectacular view of Boise from their home.  Thanks for hosting! ...the Greenbelt Committee will meet with city's project engineers on Friday.............If you didn't get to JUMP on Sunday afternoon, make sure you go next week. It's amazing! Yet another thing that makes our town special!!
