This week we'll hear from Bruce Ward, President of an organization called "Choose Outdoors". He's been in our local news of late because his organization has worked with the Forest Service to select the 2016 National Christmas Tree from the Payette National Forest.
"For over 25 years I have been a friend of the Forest Service and worked in a number of different roles to help the agency, especially with private partners. Eight years ago I started a non-profit organization, Choose Outdoors that has a national memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Forest Service. Our mission is to connect all Americans to public lands through outdoor recreation. We do this by finding ways of bringing the entire spectrum of recreation interests together."
In order to satisfy our District Grant requirement, our club needs to match the $3750 with $2,500 in order to close out the grant and be eligible to apply for another one in 2016-2017.
Happy dollars during the month of April will be put towards this match, we are asking club members to consider the month of April the Greenbelt ‘Matching Month’ and as possible be generous with the happy dollars as 100% of the happy dollars will go to the Greenbelt project and our clubs matching requirement.
Remember the kids who brought their robots to our meeting? Well, the Robotics competition is at Taco Bell Arena next weekend. Click here for their website. I can't see what the times are but the dates are March 30- April 2nd.
I want to thank the Boise Metro club for their generous $500 support for the poverty reduction project in Massory Sierra Leone. We have already received your club's funds. I can now sent them to TRF with the necessary paperwork so your club will be properly credited.
I anticipate fast action on getting the project underway. Jon and I will provide periodic updates on the project's progress.
Please thank your club members for their generous support.

Many thanks to our own Carrie Westergard who told us about the work of the Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau. Amazing all they do to attract businesses and conventions. Watch this cool video!
Reminder that our club has been approved by Rotary International to participate in the Open World Program. We will be hosting 6 Russians (from Siberia!) for 8 days, October 7-15. Our responsibility will be housing, transportation and programs. Cornelia is setting things up. Start thinking about how you will help with this incredible opportunity.
Cornelia is now officially looking for host families. Based on the size of your house, you might take more than one. You can also volunteer for 4 days instead of the whole 8. Let Cornelia know if you'd be interested! This is going to be awesome!
As you may know, the District Public Image Committee is subjecting all our clubs to an "Internet Presence" report card. Its an effort to see how our clubs are doing, recognizing the importance of an internet presence for recruitment and retention. Our club has an awesome Website! Where we fail is that we don't have a Facebook page. FB is becoming more and more important. Would someone like to volunteer to be our FaceBook master? An effective FB page should have club-relevant posting twice a week and should capture posts from the District and Rotary International. There can be several club members who have authority to post. If you're interested, let me know!
Extremely Limited space, please RSVP as soon as possible
