BOARD MEETING THURSDAY 8:30 ZOOM
THIS WEEK -  WYAKIN FOUNDATION
Wyakin Foundation
Our speaker this week will be Chelsea Miller, Director of Community Engagement for the Wyakin Foundation. "To serve as a conduit, connecting wounded and injured veterans to their successful and fulfilling civilian futures through education, development, and guidance". Learn more about the Foundation here.
FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
This week’s speaker is from the Wyakin Foundation.  Did you know there is a connection between between Rotary and the great work done at the Wyakin Foundation? One of our Rotary Areas of Focus is Community & Economic Development. As Rotarians, we seek to create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. The Wyakin Warrior Foundation, located in Boise, was founded in 2010 to provide a pathway for wounded veterans to transition through education into careers of their choosing. In fact, Boise Sunrise Rotary has been a supporter of the Wyakin Warrior Foundation for a number of years. In addition to their financial support, the Sunrise Club has also provided volunteers and warrior-mentors to the foundation and its clients. In the past Rotary fiscal year, Wyakin was invited to apply for a large grant with the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation. Now you know.

DREAMING OF APRICOTS
Last week about 10 of us spent 2 hours or so at the Idaho Food Bank bagging 4300 pounds of beautiful apricots. They were donated to the Food Bank by the LDS Church from their orchard in Caldwell. These bags will be distributed primarily by the Food Bank's mobile units, all over the state. We learned that one has to appreciate the hard work that goes into a fruit harvest! Also the amazing work that the Food Bank does to provide nourishing foods to families in need.
