BOARD MEETING THURSDAY 7:30 AM
THIS WEEK - IDAHO DIAPER BANK
Our Service Project Meeting this week will be at the Idaho Diaper Bank. We will gather in their work room and bundle up diapers in sets of 25 and wrap for distribution. The Idaho Diaper Bank is located at 599 E King St #100 Meridian, ID near Meridian Road and Franklin. This would be a great opportunity to ring a guest to learn what Rotary is all about. Wear your Rotary shirt and be sure to bring a package of diapers to donate. You should have received an email from Will with a menu from Zupa for your lunch.

Please note that anyone not able to be at the work project on Tuesday (including myself) can still donate diapers and drop them off at my office to be picked up and delivered on Tuesday.

WE CAN ADOPT A SECTION OF GREENBELT
The Parks and Rec Volunteer office is back in business. We have been given the opportunity to "adopt" a section of the Greenbelt that runs through our park. To learn of the details and exactly what we'd be responsible for, we have a date to meet with Jerry Pugh and Kristin Gnojewski for a tour of that section on Monday, August 24th at 9:00 AM.  Please let me know if you can join us for walk in the park!
CHARLENE FUNDS MOSQUITO NETS
Every 2 minutes, a child dies of malaria as a result of a mosquito bite. But we can help. Get at least 10 people not on your team to chip in at least $1 each to Nothing But Nets (for a total of $10) to provide at least 2 long-lasting insecticidal bed nets to families in impoverished countries.

I recognise that a lot of Americans are hurting now and donating might be hard. IF YOU CAN, would you please chip in? We can raise more than ten dollars total, but we need at least ten different donors.

Follow the link in this email or type NothingButNets dot net in your browser.

My team’s name is “GISH  SpaceRacePirates”. Once we have at least ten different people donating we can be credited for this scavenger hunt item.
We have until FRIDAY to complete the hunt.

UPDATE:

Thank you to everyone who donated to my Scavenger Hunt item. At our meeting on Aug 4 I pledged that whatever was donated (up to a max of $200) by 10pm Friday August 7 I would also donate to our club in the form of Happy Dollars. The Scavenger Hunt ends at midnight on Friday. As of this writing, $85 has been donated to the Nothing But Nets fundraiser! Thank you, Boise Metro Rotarians!

D5400 EARTH STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
Last week Laurie Zuckerman and Lisa Vetter gave a presentation about the D5400 Earth Stewardship Committee and Rotary's Seven Areas of Focus. We were presented with a Serviceberry Award for our work volunteering to plant seedlings around the valley.

GREENBELT UPDATE
The bricks have been replaced around the base of the monument and the construction pylons have been removed. It looks great! We hope to have the last 100 bricks laid by the end of August. In the meantime, the interpretive signs will remain covered so we can have a Great Unveiling at the appropriate time.

GEM FRIENDS AUCTION UPDATE
JEMfriends, a non-profit supporting youth aging out of foster care, with whom our club has had many successful partnerships, is holding their annual fundraiser and this year it will be virtual. It starts out on September 25 with an online auction and ends on October 8 with a live-streamed event. Our club has been invited to support it through auction donations and sponsorships:

Auction Items
If you know of any individuals or businesses who would be willing to donate an auction item to our event, let us know. We are seeking items valued between $25 to $1000 and are looking for a variety. Outdoors, wining and dining, coffee lovers, art and home decor, or something for the whole family! We are glad to be able to promote the individuals and businesses who donate. If this is a way you are able to support JEMfriends, please reach out to csprung@redbuilt.com.

If you can’t donate an entire item, but would like to contribute to a group basket from the club, you can use the Venmo app to send a donation directly to the club’s account. The account name is @Boise-Metro .
