THIS WEEK - JAN SALISBURY ON LEADERSHIP
Jan is the Chair of a Vistage Small Business Vistage Peer Advisory Board in Boise and a Key Executive Peer Advisory board, serving CEOs, Owners, and Key Executives who want to make the best decisions for their businesses and lead fulfilling lives. We focus on vital business questions and challenges and what it takes to lead oneself and others to achieve their goals and dreams.    After over 40 years experience Vistage knows that leaders develop leaders--having a place to go where no one has any agenda but to be helpful is a personal and business advantage for CEOs and owners.

CHILI COOK-OFF WAS HOT!
January's Fellowship event took place at the beautiful home of Jeff and Julie Dinwiddie. The fireside event was attended by around 15 Boise Metro Rotarians plus their families and friends. The annual Chili Cook-off included entries from everything from spicy to vegetarian. The 1st place winner was Brian McCoy, who took home the trophy (which will show up again next year), 2nd Place was Dan McCown, 3rd Place was Carrie Westergard and last, but certainly not least, was Janice Fulkerson's vegetarian chili. Janice took home the chili cookbook. There was also a white elephant exchange!

WE WIN DISTRICT FOUNDATION AWARDS!
District Governor Jim Hogge visited us last week to present us with THREE awards to recognize our efforts to support the Rotary Foundation:
  • Certificate of Appreciation for our support of Polio Plus. Last year we contributed $4,189.
  • We met eh goal of Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY). 100% participation with a per capita of at least $100. Only 15% of clubs worldwide met that goal!
  • We had the highest per capita Foundation giving in the District - $230!
We done good! Let's keep it up!

HELP WANTED - BULLETIN EDITOR
Are you a closet writer? Here's an exciting opportunity for the right Rotarian! Yours truly has been doing our club bulletin for nearly four years. Its time for someone else to take the mantle. I believe the weekly bulletin is crucial for effective club communication. It always starts with "This Week". We all can appreciate how much easier it is to invite a prospective member when you know who the speaker is going to be. (Thanks to Mary Reiman for always having a program ready!) While our club attendance is really good, compared to other clubs, the bulletin is also written for the members who were not there the previous week. That keeps everyone "in the loop". Of course, we always end with "Odds 'n Ends" for short bits and "in jokes". Our bulletin is a great recruiting tool, going to almost 100 "friends" besides our members. A new editor might have different ideas!

There is a learning curve, no doubt. The editor will have to learn the basics of ClubRunner. I will be available to share tips and tricks. And the pay is great!! Let me know if you're interested!
ODDS 'N ENDS
Lots of guests last week, including Dr. Serguei Simonov from St. Petersburg, Russia......Todd Fischer from Boise Downtown was with us to promote their "Firkin Frolic" event on Feb 9.......Thanks to Dave Gott for his talk on Geneology. He showed the family tree of his dog "bear". He warned us to beware of "alternative facts".....if you're interested, good sources are familysearch.org and rootsmagic.com............we hope you all read the District Bulletin which went out yesterday!
