HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
THIS WEEK - TREES!
Our program this week will be Laurie Zuckerman who has been spearheading our District 5400 effort to plant trees around our District. You should recall that the goal is to plant a gazillion trees!  Laurie will tell us how we're doing.

JOIN GOVERNOR'S FIRESIDE CHAT
A Fireside Chat is the opportunity for Club Leaders to look at year-to-date results, share best practices, discuss upcoming events and more. This event replaces the former Mid-Winter Assembly, which required travel to a central location. Register for one of two different options, grab your warm beverage, follow the instructions you'll receive via email, and let's chat!

Two Saturday sessions: January 12th (click here to register);  January 19th (click here to register)
BELL RINGERS DONE GOOD!
A bunch of us rang the bell for the Salvation Army way back on Dec 22 at the new Albertsons. Our kettle netted $658.38! Thanks to those who froze and rang the bell! (And one of our team - we won't embarrass them by mentioning their name, failed to show up, causing the prior ringer a case of hypothermia).

WE'RE NUMBER ONE!!!
District Governor Jennifer came to our last December meeting to present us with a bunch of recognitions for our support of the Rotary Foundation:
  • No. 1 in the District for Polio Plus contributions
  • We achieved Every Rotarian Every Year (every member contributed at least $25)
  • EREY average giving was over $100
  • We had the highest per capita giving in the District - $347!
We owe many thanks to John Schubin who pushed us hard to sign up for Rotary Direct! Mission accomplished!
GET YOUR POLIO PLUS SNEAKERS HERE!
James Hepworth announced that he has received a shipment of  980 pairs of Polio Plus sneakers. Purchasing these amazingly comfortable casual shoes will provide funds for the fight against polio. You get credit for your Polio Plus contribution and Bill Gates will match it!  You can order on-line here.
ODDS 'N ENDS
Our last meeting, seems so long ago, was back at the old haunt, the Stonehouse...it was comforting to be back!.....Lots of guests......Bryan reported on the Christmas tree delivery and Cornelia reported that the gifts had been delivered to JEMfriends........Our rendition of the old Christmas song "Go Tell it on the Mountain" was awesome!............. We rang the bell for the Salvation Army on Dec 22..........Jeff's wrestling team at North Jr High went 14-0.......Cahill got the award for the best socks.......our speaker, John Freemuth, was great! And funny, too!  Stupid question: Why did the Anasazi build their cave dwellings so far from the railroad?......  We held our election of next year's officers. Alli will be all set to go on July 1st.......
