THIS WEEK - COMPASS
Our speaker this week will be Lila Klopfenstein, Principal Planner at COMPASS. The Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) is an association of local governments working together to plan for the future of the Treasure Valley. The agency is a voluntary, member-based organization.

COMPASS serves as the metropolitan planning organization, or MPO, for Ada and Canyon Counties. An MPO is a regional planning entity responsible for transportation planning and distribution of federal transportation funds for designated urbanized areas. All urbanized areas over 50,000 in population must have an MPO if local or state transportation agencies spend federal money on transportation improvements.

DECORATE SNACK BAGS FOR R. McD. HOUSE
Announcing our February service/fellowship project: Decorating Snack Bags for Ronald McDonald House
At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho, they help families face the burden of their child’s illness together. A family has enough worries attending to the complicated medical needs of a child, maintaining their jobs, caring for other children or family members and keeping up with medical and out-of-pocket expenses – at RMHC, they care for the family so they can focus on their ill or injured child. And sometimes that means yummy snacks (which RMHC supplies) in a bag with an encouraging or fun message! That's where we come in!

Let's meet at Black Moon Pizza on Chinden, Sunday, Feb 16 at 2pm for a bag decorating party. Cornelia will bring paper bags, and Mary will bring art supplies. YOU should bring a guest interested in Rotary, or a family member, and your ideas for jokes, riddles or fun decoration. This is a family-friendly event. It's also no-host for food or drinks. So... are you in?

QUESTION WAS ASKED
Archive - U.S. Agency for International Development
Rotary’s long and successful strategic partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve access to safely managed water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) illustrates how public-private partnerships can improve impact in the communities we serve and expand services and support beyond what Rotary members could do alone.

John Hewko, Rotary’s general secretary and CEO, has spent more than a decade watching the Rotary-USAID Partnership grow, and understands why it continues to succeed. “USAID has missions in most countries,” says Hewko, “but they don’t have deep roots in communities like Rotary has. That’s why this kind of collaborative partnership is so valuable. Each partner brings unique skills and talents to the table.”

USAID has been heavily involved in the Polio eradication effort.
