BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY 5:00 AT JEFF'S
THIS WEEK - DUNIA MARKETPLACE
Our guest this week will be Ann a Wulfsong Belt, Director of Dunia Marketplace, Idaho's only free trade market, providing vital, fair income to artisans by selling their handicrafts and telling their stories.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE  WAS GREAT!
For the first time recent memory, our annual District Conference was held in Boise rather than Sun Valley. Nearly 300 Rotarians from around the District arrived for the two day event, which was spectacular! Some great speakers and some great meals. The Boise Center on the Grove did a fine job all around! A highlight of any District Conference is the presentation of our Youth Exchange kids. Its fun to hear the inbounds tell about their experience in Idaho....Michela was honored as District Leader of the Year..........newest member Matt got to meet Kurt Bowen, exchange experiences about Central America. ..my brother's Eastern Washington D.C. was this week, too  - they had Bill Gates and RI Pres Barry Rassin!............Check out the photos!
GREENBELT FUNDRAISING - WE ARE THIS CLOSE-ALL ROTARIANS PLEASE STEP UP NOW!
Fund raising for the Rotary Park on the Greenbelt is underway! Last week, we "sold" the last bench for $2,500.  We have applied for District Grants to suppor the benches and interpretive signs. We have set up a GoFundMe account which is already attracting attention.  We had a display table set up at District Celebration.  There are TWO things you can do right now:

  • Buy a Rotary Brick. Leave your name to posterity by having a brick engraved in the plaza.
  • Make a contribution on the GoFundMe page and be sure to share it with your social media contacts.

SENIOR ATHLETES LOVE HOT DOGS
It was a beautiful early summer day Kleiner Park that we served hot dogs with all the trimmings to about 50 senior athletes. These were Idaho Senior Games athletes who were getting ready to go to Albuquerque to compete in the National Senior Games. Among them was 91 year old Bill Platts who was going for the world record in the pentathlon. Many thanks to James and Ed who prepared an incredible menu for these incredible athletes! Good luck to them all! (Actually, that's all a lie - we got rained out!) (The part about Bill Platts is true!)
END OF YEAR CELEBRATION June 29th
We'll celebrate the end of Jeff's tenure as club President (finally!) on June 29th......mark your calendar. Details still forthcoming.
ODDS  'N ENDS
We set up a Greenbelt table and sold some bricks..........James paid an outrageous amount for the Kaepernick jersey....Cornelia won two silent auction items - looked like lots of wine.........the cruise winner was from McCall - nuts!.....Mary's bike riders looked spent after their time in the saddle.......speaking of Matt, watch out for his daughter, she just got her license........great to see Brian M. back in our midst.......Bret and Don flew a condor egg to San Diego.....Bill C. looks sharp in a bolo tie.......best wishes to our members who are off to Hamburg for the Internat'l convention......we'll expect a full report on your return...........
