THIS WEEK - SERVICE!
Our First Tuesday Service Project on April 5th will be at Tyson's home at 1108 E. Lewis. We'll be making ribbons for the WCA.  April is Sexual Assault Awareness month. Somebody will provide lunch!
RAMADAN SHOPPING NEWS

Cornelia was pleased to report that Albertsons Corp has awarded a $500 grant for the purchase of groceries for the Ramadan project. And, Roger has brought 200 lbs of garbanzo beans down from the Palouse; Amalgamated Sugar has donated 60 bags of sugar. We'll continue to purchase groceries for these immigrant Afghani families who are celebrating Ramadan this month. Our goal is to fill 60 bags of groceries, appropriate to their culture, and deliver them on April 30th. Deliver supplies to Cornelia and let her know if you can make deliveries.

Reusable shopping bags – you can sometimes find these for $1
Basmati rice – India Market on Fairview has 10# bags
Olive oil – any size, any brand
Whole dates – These are usually in produce
Of course donating cash is okay, too. Venmo @Cornelia-Sprung.
LADIES - LETS GO GLAMPING!
August 19-21, 2022
Camp Alice Pittenger

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council invites you and your friends to attend Glamp, a special ladies-only event August 19-21. This weekend at Camp Alice Pittenger will be packed full of fun activities, new traditions, lasting friendships and memories.

Spend the weekend getting pampered, enjoying delicious food, wine tasting and joining in on Girl Scout traditions. Relive your fond memories of camp while helping today’s girls make memories of their own.

BRING YOUR ROTARY MAGAZINE
The Boise East Rotary Club is collecting magazines in support of a school in Africa at which they recently sponsored a girls education project. It hinges on supporting girls during menstruation so they can remain in school with dignity. Which happens to be the cover story on the March issue of Rotarian magazine! They would like to collect copies of this magazine to send to the school. If you are finished reading your March 2022 issue, please bring it to Rotary next week.

Here's the story:

LETS BUILD A LOAFING SHED!
Next Saturday is our day to build a Loafing Shed (maybe two) at the Idaho Youth Ranch facility in Nampa. These will enhance the Equine Therapy program. Read about the program here: https://www.youthranch.org/equine-therapy

It takes awhile to get there. Consider car pooling and working from 9 to 3. Tyson will provide lunch. Look for more information from Tyson.

DISTRICT CONFERENCE MAY 20
Plans are nearly complete for this year's District Conference in beautiful Sun Valley, May 20-21. District leadership promises a great event, including the Saturday evening banquet (featuring Brian Shul, a fighter pilot with a fascinating story)  and a variety of service projects on Saturday afternoon. The best advice is to stay at the Sun Valley Hotel so you don't miss any of the action! We have a block of rooms reserved  - $179/ night. For more details check the District 5400 website. Early registration ends March 31. Every Rotarian should attend a District Conference. Our club will reimburse attendees $100, toward your bar bill. Cornelia will be creating a "giving tree" of gift cards for the silent auction.
AID FOR UKRAINE
All Rotarians are Encouraged to Support the - Disaster Relief Fund - for Ukraine - In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has created an official channel for Rotary members around the world to contribute funds to support the relief efforts underway by Rotary Districts and has designated its Disaster Response Fund as the main avenue for contributions.

Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund in support of Ukraine can be made online at Disaster Response Fund | My Rotary. All funds need to be received into the Disaster Response Fund by 30 April, 2022 in order to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts.

  • Now through 30 April, 2022, Rotary districts can transfer unallocated District Designated Funds (DDF) to support the Disaster Response Fund, directly supporting these Ukraine-specific humanitarian grants.
  • During this same period, other impacted Rotary districts that wish to offer support to refugees or other victims of the crisis in their district can apply for $25,000 grants from the Disaster Response Fund.
  • Now through 30 June, 2022, designated Rotary Districts that border Ukraine and the Rotary district in Ukraine may apply for grants of up to $50,000 each from the Disaster Response Fund. These expedited disaster response grants can be used to provide relief to refugees or other victims of the crisis including items such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.

You can find a more comprehensive announcement with additional details here: The Rotary Foundation creates channel for direct humanitarian support in Ukraine region | Rotary International
