THIS WEEK - HISPANIC CHAMBER
Our guest this week will be Ternel Martinez, Director of the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
MARTIN HAD A GREAT YEAR!
Its always fun to hear our Youth Exchange Student tell about their experiences in Boise this year. B y all accounts, Martin's year was a rousing success!  Before telling us about his year here, he gave us a tour of his hometown in France. Here at Boise High, he played varsity tennis and other student activities. He'll be returning home in mid-July after a bus tour around the western USA with other Youth exchange kids. His favorite American food is Chick-Filet and what he misses most is bleu cheese.  He says Americans are "nice", French are "mean"!  Oh yes, at home there is a dog.
FUN FISHIN'
We couldn't have asked for a better weather day for fishin' at Eagle Island!  For next year, we now know where all the hot spots are! We had a great turnout, lots of kids, last minute hot dogs, lost of prizes. Sad to say, no one won the $10k grand prize!  The winner of fish caught was TWENTY FIVE.  Looks we made about $3600.  Great job by Dave and his committee to set this UP - we learned a lot for next year!

GREENBELT FUNDRAISING - WE ARE THIS CLOSE-ALL ROTARIANS PLEASE STEP UP NOW!
Fund raising for the Rotary Park on the Greenbelt is underway! Last week, we "sold" the last bench for $2,500.  We have applied for District Grants to suppor the benches and interpretive signs. We have set up a GoFundMe account which is already attracting attention.  We had a display table set up at District Celebration.  There are TWO things you can do right now:

  • Buy a Rotary Brick. Leave your name to posterity by having a brick engraved in the plaza.
  • Make a contribution on the GoFundMe page and be sure to share it with your social media contacts.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION June 29th
We'll celebrate the end of Jeff's tenure as club President (finally!) on June 29th......mark your calendar. Details still forthcoming.
YALI COMING IN JUNE
Last week Cornelia provided more information about the Young Africa Leadership Initiative happening in June.   The Department of English at BSU won a managing grant from the Mandela Washington Fellowship. There will be 26 young professionals from all over Africa visiting Boise for six weeks  starting in June. June 25th has been scheduled for "Home Dinners". We can volunteer to assist in a variety of ways: drivers, mentors, one-on-ones, etc. They'll be living on Campus but we don't want them to tire of student union fare!
ODDS 'N ENDS
Our three Dinner Groups were well received, we'll do it again for sure........Mary has new Little Sister - she loves to fish!..........Rick will soon be touring around Japan - he has to take his own bike, Japanese do'n't make them that tall..........Bill Cafferty's wife won the barrel racing competition..........leave it to my son-in-law to pick the worst place on the pond!........enjoy this early summer weather! .....get on the Greenbelt and buy a brick!
