Our virtual speaker this week will be Sean Martin, Regional Director of Lifewater. Lifewater is a faith based organization that has been working around the world since 1977 to promote clean water and hygiene. The annual District Raffle Sale is under way! This is our District's major fund raiser for the year, supporting the work we do in lots of different areas. The prizes are amazing!! Each member is asked to sell a packet of 10 tickets. You can buy them yourself or hit up your friends. Here's the link to get you started. Note that you have to purchase each ticket individually, adding them to your cart before checkout. You can avoid the processing fee by sending a check to the PO Box. Thanks for you support! (Here's an idea: instead of going out to eat, use your money to buy raffle tickets!)

 

Last Thursday was a spectacular day to check out our Rotary Park on the Greenbelt! I am pleased to report that EVERYTHING we planted last fall has survived the winter! All the bulbs are up and beautiful. We planted a few tulips just to see if the deer really would eat them - not yet! The Little Free Library is empty. There's an odd note inside that suggests maybe its not a good time to be sharing books, Well, OK. We even watched a guy use the bike repair stand. With luck, the next and final phase of the project will begin this week. Let's hope!

Lets think about projects we can do as Rotarians but not have to be together. Examples might be highway cleanup, adopt a section of Greenbelt  (Checking with the City but the section through our park might be available) , cook a meal for Jem Friends. Bring some ideas to our Club Assembly later in the month. (News flash: we've just learned that the section of Greenbelt passing through our park IS available for "adoption")

The Fishing Derby hopes to reschedule for July/August.....Service projects have been canceled, but we're hoping that Paint The Town will still happen....... We'll posptone our next Guess Who's Coming to Dinner event to the fall, but our May/June events are still on- Family Picnic and year-end banquet.......

Last week Greg Kaltenecker told us about the new project down by the Rt 21 bridge along the river called the Diane Moore Nature Center. Lots will happen there over the new few years with plenty of opportunities for us to get involved.

Rotary's Foundation year is fast coming to a close. We are doing well in reaching our goal - we're 80% there. There are few of us who haven't signed up for Rotary Direct; that's the easiest way to contribute. Rotary will take your money every month - you don't have to do a thing, except sign up!  That's the easiest way for us to reach our goal 100% "Every Rotarian Every Year" (EREY)

Thanks to Shiloh for running last week's meeting....she has some terrible jokes..... John sang ' Feelin' Groovy" to keep us upbeat....Cahill will have one for us this week............Schubin has to pay Brian $10.00 for wearing is logo hat......please speak up if any of our family is affected by Covid-19......Our Exchange Student Noa has returned to Osaka but had to bear a 14 day quarantine...she's fine, as is her family......we had 13 on the Zoom call last week...it works great! But we can do better attendance -wise - that's only 1/3 of our membership......there are few excuses......best wishes to Brandi Hamman and Bill Cafferty who left for new jobs............Jeff uses funny words from Medical/Corporate Speak...what is a "drawer statement"?.......
