This week our friend Laurie Zuckerman will visit.  She's a member of Rotary Downtown and she's also the spirit behind ESRAG - the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group. Many of us have been involved in her sappling planting projects around the area. She'll bring us up to date on ESRAG's work. Check it out here
Its that time again! Our monthly commitment to clean up our section of Greenbelt is next Saturday, Sept 4th. Meet at Joe's Crab Shack at 10:00AM
The annual Lobsterfest Auction begins on September 3rd. Be sure to log in and register to bid!!  There are lots of very cool items and experiences. Our club has entered 18 items
And don't forget the celebration luncheon (includes Lobster Bisque) at the Riverside on September 11th.
Last week Roger B. gave us a primer on how to easily make periodic contributions to the Rotary Foundation. The goal is to achieve "EREY" (Every Rotarian Every Year). Easiest way to do that is to sign up for Rotary Direct to take a few bucks from your bank account every month or so. Interesting fact: Did you know that since our club was formed, back in 1996, we've acknowledged 114 Paul Harris Fellows and 6 Foundation Benefactors? So, go log into My Rotary and get started!!

We're looking into the possibility of supporting a Rotary Foundation Global Grant to provide funds to Uganda's efforts to improve water quality and sanitation. Here are some facts for your consideration:

The Uganda Water Crisis: Facts, Progress, and How to Help

 | Clean Water News Poverty Cycle

Over 21 million people in Uganda are living without basic access to safe drinking water. That’s 51 percent—a majority of the population—in the East African country.

But, it’s not just about water. The water crisis is inseparable from the sanitation and hygiene crisis; together, these form what is known as “WASH,” three factors that greatly impact health.

Uganda is making a way out of the water and sanitation crisis and building a foundation from which to thrive. The country is growing and changing, and people are rising to the challenge to create better, healthier lives. Below are the top facts you should know about the Uganda water and sanitation crisis today and how you can help put it to an end.

We are still waiting for the Stonehouse to decide what it wants to do going forward. It seems, however, that even when they re-open, it will be more expensive. In the meantime, we're locked into the Life's Kitchen through the end of October. The only complication there is that the room is not available on the first Tuesday of each month. That's why we've scheduled our Tuesday Service Projects for the 1st.  (A favorite song of mine is "Life Gets Complicated, Don't it?) For September, our project wasn't to be ready until the 14th. So here's the early September calendar:
September 7 - Zoom meeting with a representative from ShelterBox
September 14 - Service Project, painting for Leap Housing

The Muffin Sale will probably be from September 29th to October 6th.  In past years my family has raised on average $10,000.  With the help of the club, I'd like to shoot for $15,000.

I need help in 2 ways:

1.) Rotarians to sell muffins to their circle of influence

2.) Rotarians to help bake muffins

Please email me if you can help with item 1, 2 or both.  Then I can provide you with more information.

The Greater Boise Rotary Foundation (GBRF) is working on streamlining the grant application process. This year GBRF gave $27,000 to six non -profits in the Valley. The corpus is nearing $1 million! Bret V. is the President this year and Scott Swan serves on the Board. Please consider financial support and pass along possible ideas for projects that might be supported.
