Our speaker this week will be Craig Quintana, representing Citizens for Better Transportation . . .. . . is a group of pedestrian and bicycle safety advocates, ACHD Commissioners, builders, developers, engineers, lawyers and others concerned about the future of Ada County. Growth brings increased prosperity but it also brings challenges. We want to provide the funding to help ACHD meet the needs that record-growth brings.
The revenue from an expanded Vehicle Registration Fee, the initiative the ACHD Commission has placed on the November 6, 2018 ballot, can go a long way toward fighting traffic congestion, ensuring big projects begin when needed, and meeting the needs of walkers and cyclists.
ED KIM joined our club this week. Born and raised in Nampa he has a BS in Physics from BSU. He was referred to us by James Hepworth, for whom he interned years ago. Ed is software developer and tech start-up entrepreneur. His current enterprise is called Unitoro. Ed's hobby is wood working and building furniture. He lives in Star with his wife Lilia and their SIX children. Welcome Ed!
District Rotary Foundation Chair, Marianne Barker from Blue Lakes Twin Falls, visited us last week. Our club is NUMBER ONE, partly because of the generosity of Don and Mary Reiman who she recognized as "Major Donors" and Michela Swarthout who was admitted to the Paul Harris Society, the 5th member of our club who has been so honored!
It was great to see Don Reiman with us last week....former member and Mary's other half.....Gary Hunter from CWI encouraged us to vote for the upcoming levy...did you know CWI is now up to 32,000 students?? Yikes!...........our speaker last week explained why my cat is so diurnal.......Remember, October 9th our meeting will be a field trip to BSPR........no bulletin the next two weeks - your editor is on the road............
