Where did the time go? Last week was Shiloh's last official meeting! We'll present her with awesome accolades at the banquet! All expense paid trip to.......? A new car.....? A Starbuck's Gift Card......? We had a great year under her leadership and we all appreciate her leadership and enthusiasm! Look for 38 people at the event!

Our first activity of the new Rotary year will be our First Tuesday service project. Once again, we'll be serving lunches at the same four city parks. We had so much fun last month, we're doing it again!

Many thanks to Laura Spencer from Eagle/Garden City Rotary for her great presentation about Rotary Youth Exchange in District 5400. This year we'll have 10 "inbounds" and 11 "outbounds". Our club will be hosting a young lady from France named Lou Vapaille. Our outbound student is Myla Kehn who will be going to Taiwan. We need one more host family for the December-March period. Jeff and Charlene will be the hosts for the final period next spring. They are brushing up on their French!

 

The RYE program has been going on for a long time. It started in Europe back in the 20s, came to the USA in 1939. It became an official Rotary program in 1972. Our District has been hosting kids since the mid '70s.

 

We learned a new RYE word - "Rotex". These are our kids who have returned from an exchange and are continuing to be involved in the program as mentors, etc. (Kids who have just returned are called "Rebounds")

Each session also has a virtual option. But, note that the First one, Food Security, will take place in BOISE, IDAHO on July 30 at the Riverside.

Lisa Berg joined us last week. From Centennial Rotary (she's just completing her year as Pres, too!) , she'll be our Assistant Governor next year......Janet H will be our "Sargent at Arms" next year, so watch yourself!....she just got back from Chicago....now understands why she doesn't want to live in a big city......just like Joe Biden, Bret fell off his bike, but he hurt himself......Amy is now a free agent in the tech world.....Summer is finally here!!..102 tomorrow?........we won't be meeting again for a regular meeting until July 12.....
