The mission of Western Watersheds Project is to protect and restore western watersheds and wildlife through education, public policy initiatives, and legal advocacy.
Western Watersheds Project is a nonprofit environmental conservation group with 1,500 members founded in 1993 and has field offices in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. WWP works to influence and improve public lands management throughout the West with a primary focus on the negative impacts of livestock grazing on 250 million acres of western public lands, including harm to ecological, biological, cultural, historic, archeological, scenic resources, wilderness values, roadless areas, Wilderness Study Areas and designated Wilderness.
The Rotary Park on the Greenbelt is FINISHED!!!!! Many thanks to Cutting Edge Landscaping for stepping up on short notice to get that last batch of bricks down! The only thing left for us to do is plan a "Grand Unveiling". (The interpretive signs are still covered). This has been the "project that never ends", but after 6.5 years, mission accomplished and it looks great! The total cost ended up at about $85,000......a far cry form the original estimate of $
50,000! Go check it out. Our Rotary Clubs, and the D.A.R., can be proud!
Auction items must be packaged and delivered to Tricia Stingley at 3316 W. Anderson St (208-703-9377) no later than next Sunday, September 20th. Auctions Made Easy will photograph the item and create a sharp looking website to use for the auction. Learn more here: https://lobsterfest5400.org/
We REALLY want to get back to in person meetings! But we also recognize that some people may not be ready yet. So, starting Sept 22 we'll experiment with a "hybrid" meeting. Here's the deal: while we'll also have Zoom, we'll meet in person in a conference room at Will's office (1111 W. Jefferson St, Suite 540). Plenty of free parking available. For our lunch, Knack Attack is right downstairs.
Mary R., our Polio Plus Chair, wants you to know that October 24th is World Polio Day. Our club has done a great job over the years contributing to Polio Plus. This year, our club has adopted an initiative called Polio Plus Society. It works like the Paul Harris Society. Any Rotarian who commits to contributing $100 per year to Polio Plus can become a member of the society. More details will come during October.
Since we've not been having meals expenses for our weekly meeting, our bank account is flush. The Board has decided, at least for September and October, we'd take $500 and donate it to one of our causes. This month, we'll donate $500 to JEMFriends.
Our service project last Tuesday was to help the gals at JEMFriends move some furniture from one house to another. Thanks to John and Max Schubin, John B., Jeff L. and Roger's right hand man, as well as John's friend who had a truck and trailer. If anyone needs to move, we're experienced now!
We have a supply of Greenbelt T-Shirts and Rotary hats available for any member who wants one - no cost to you! Just let me know what you want and I will mail it to you.
