Leave it as it is. You cannot improve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children’s children, and for all who come after you, as the one sight which every American should see.

THIS WEEK - MODULAR NUCLEAR REACTORS

NuScale Power is developing a new kind of nuclear reactor they believe will be safer, smaller and cheaper than current reactors. Idaho Falls Power is hoping to take advantage of the new reactors once the first one goes online.

Last week, NuScale Power Senior Reactor Operator Michael Downs and Idaho Falls Power General Manager Bear Prairie explained what NuScale Power’s Small Modular Reactors are, why Idaho Falls Power wants one and the plan to build the first one in just a few years.

“What we’re trying to do at NuScale is basically bring energy to the world,” Downs said.

FEBRUARY SERVICE PROJECT  - COMMUNITY SCHOOL FOOD PANTRY
February 9th Service - Snack Bag Assembly for Community School Pantry!

Help assemble snack bags for our Community School Coordinators to distribute to Homeless and Low-Income Students. This includes our own Garfield Elementary students! This service project can be done in the comfort of your own home. Assemble snack bags following the instructions below and bring to Will Ellsworth’s Northwestern Mutual office. You can even drop off the snack bags with the reception desk in the ground floor lobby of the Boise Plaza 1111 West Jefferson Street. Please plan to drop off completed bags by February 9th.
For those who want to do the assembly project with fellow Rotarians … we will be gathering at the conference room in Will‘s office on the 5th Floor of the Boise Plaza. Join us starting at 12 Noon on February 9th. Please wear a mask and respect social distancing protocols in the building. We will have people spaced 6 feet apart in the conference room. If you have time, buy some bulk snack boxes. No time for a Costco Run? Make a financial contribution using the club’s venmo account (www.venmo.com). Our club’s username address is @Boise-Metro. Remember to put “snack bags” on the memo line of the payment!

THE BUILDING GOODWILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIPS TOUR
Hello, it's me again...and I'm back with more fun and adventures for all of my fellow D5400 Rotarians! Your D5400 Membership Team has put together a brand new program to help us all get a little more "Rotary Love" into our lives. In addition to the monthly virtual social hours (more info on the district calendar and district FaceBook page), we are now promoting what we are calling The Building Goodwill and Better Friendships Tour. And seriously, who couldn't use more of that in their life, right?

The goal is to build and strengthen our Rotary connections across our entire district. The concept is simple. Build goodwill and better friendships by exploring our vast Rotary community. It's that easy! This opportunity is open to any D5400 Rotarian who wishes to play with us.
