THIS WEEK - CORNELIA AT THE HELM

TAKE THE PLUNGE!

My name is Grant Loveridge and I am heading up a team of Rotarians to participate in the annual Make-A-Wish foundation Polar Plunge. This is my third year representing Rotary at the event.

I am sure most of you are familiar with the Polar Plunge. This year the Plunge will be Saturday, January 11 at Lucky Peak reservoir. Several hundred people will take the leap into the frigid water. Even if you don't want to "take the plunge", you can still come to cheer on the team. Its a Beach Party!

Last year several Rotarians from the Boise area and Rotary youth exchange students joined me. We were able to raise more than $4,000 for Make-A-Wish. This year we decided to create a District 5400 team and try to far surpass our fundraising goals. You can donate here:

https://secure2.wish.org/site/TR/InternalChapterEvent/Make-A-WishIdaho?team_id=51457&pg=team&fr_id=6193

It would be great to see Rotary as a top donator. We will have a Rotary tent and banner to try to drive membership at the event.

NAMI WALKS IN MAY

We are finalizing plans for our Community Based NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walks this spring and are hopeful to partner with Rotarians once again to highlight Rotary's international focus on mental health in the communities we serve, showcase local resources and services supporting mental health, raise awareness and debunk stigma against mental illness, and raise money for a good cause.

NAMI Walks Twin Falls will unofficially kick off our Rotary District 5400 Conference on May 3rd, to be followed by our Pocatello event on May 10, Boise event on May 24, and Idaho Falls event on June 14. We'd love to get even more Rotarians involved this year, coming together in fellowship to support a great cause, raise awareness, and have fun!

ROTARY 101 TRAINING PROGRAM

Another edition of our District 5400 Rotary 101 training for new members will be on January 14, 2025, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. via Teams. This training is intended for anyone who joined your club in the past few years (or longer-term members who are curious to know more about the Rotary world outside of your club). If you have some new members who would benefit from such an orientation (or a refresher), please invite them to attend. I've set up a registration page to help with communication, which is here: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/da40591e-3997-4ced-b18f-f97d533ffc8b@9e6f850a-4db4-459b-a037-85082173ee0d
