THIS IS DISEASE PREVENTION MONTH
December is Rotary’s Disease Prevention and Treatment Month. Our December speakers focus on health issues. Type 1 Diabetes, also called Juvenile Diabetes because it typically strikes adolescents, has no cure. While it is somewhat rare, in the US alone, there are up to 200,000 cases per year. It can last for years or be lifelong. And there's currently no known way to prevent type 1 diabetes, but this is a very active area of research. Access to treatment and programs are important to help children live the best quality of life possible. On December 13th, Brittney Lucero will join us to share about HODIA and the Idaho Youth Programs for Children with Type 1 Diabetes.
