THIS WEEK - ROTARY'S SEVEN AREAS OF FOCUS
Our Zoom guests this week will be Laurie Zuckerman, D5400 Earth Stewardship Chair, and Lisa Vetter, last year's Emmett Rotary President. They have a program entitled: Creating Our New Next: Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus.
Rotary's Seven Areas of Focus provide both a framework for understanding and a starting place to take meaningful and achievable action. Come ease your angst, find motivation, and share with club members.
DG VISIT - "HYBRID" MEETING GETS MIXED REVIEWS
Last week's meeting was our first try at a "hybrid" format. There were 12 people in person at the Boise Centre and 10 more on the Zoom call. Many thanks to Carrie for setting up the venue - the salad for lunch was very good, too!

District Governor Ben Nelson stressed that the District has resources to help clubs in many ways; don't be bashful about asking. His presentation was laced with "eye rolling, groan worthy, Burley humor". He also reported that the District Conference will return to Sun Valley next year!

We learned a lot about producing this kind of meeting. Issues noted were that the Zoom folks had great audio from the speaker, but not so much from others in the room. Those in the room couldn't hear the folks on Zoom. So we'll figure it out! Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!
DIAPER BANK PROJECT - AUGUST  11
After the success of our first Service Meeting, when we painted 2 sheds and 4 planter boxes for LEAP Housing, we have another event lined up. On August 11 at noon, instead of a Zoom meeting, we will gather in person for service at the Idaho Diaper Bank. Our project will be to bundle and label diapers as shown in this diaper packaging training video.

The Idaho Diaper Bank is located at 599 E King St #100 Meridian, ID near Meridian Road and Franklin. Watch your inbox for lunch info. This will be an easy project to do while safely spread out and working with masks on. Service is also a great way to introduce others to Rotary, so invite a friend, and wear your Rotary shirt.

AND… you can make even more impact by bringing a package of diapers with you when you come. They need all sizes and even opened packages are fine. See you there!

GREENBELT UPDATE
The bricks have been replaced around the base of the monument and the construction pylons have been removed. It looks great! We hope to have the last 100 bricks laid by the end of August. In the meantime, the interpretive signs will remain covered so we can have a Great Unveiling at the appropriate time.

GEM FRIENDS AUCTION NEEDS YOU!
Do you have a cabin or vacation rental? The ability to host a horseback riding or white-water rafting adventure? How about access to a private sightseeing flight? Are you willing to bake Cookies for a Year, or lead a mountain biking clinic in the foothills? JEMfriends will hold their annual fundraiser on September 25th and they are seeking donated “experiences” such as these. In past years, they have raised their entire $60k operating budget in this fundraiser, supporting JEMyouth participating in their transition program, which includes a life skills program and mentoring. Through these programs, local youth leaving the foster care system can find the stability, freedom, and resources needed to succeed.

All donations to JEMfriends are tax deductible and help achieve the JEMfriends vision: JEMfriends believes that each person aging out of foster care should have the opportunity to transition in an environment that understands their adversities and supports them as they become loving adults. If you have any ideas for a donated experience, please let Cornelia know at csprung@redbuilt.com.
