BOARD MEETING THURSDAY
THIS WEEK - THE EXPERT ON PAINT
This week we'll welcome Brandon Bosch (Allan's son) who has worked for Sherwin-Williams for years. He's become an expert on all things paint and wall coverings. He'll tell us about the evolution of paint products and what's the newest.
DICTIONARIES TO BE DELIVERED THIS WEEK
Last week we put Rotary labels in about 257 Dictionaries for third graders. We will deliver these to six elementary schools by the end of the month. This program has been going for many years. Thanks, Roger, for your dedication! The kids love their books!

GREENBELT PARK REPORT
We did our monthly Greenbelt cleanup on Saturday. Boy, was it busy! Two things to note: (1) some bad people cut a whole through the fence up on the bank for a shortcut. We've reported it to P&R (2) there is no sign of the milkweed seeds we planted last fall.

OPEN WORLD UPDATE
OpenWorldOur delegation from Indonesia under the Congressional Office for International Leadership (U.S. State Department) Open World program will arrive in Boise on Friday afternoon. We are expecting 7 people, 5 delegates and two interpreters. The delegates are all elected Judges from around the country. They have a full schedule of visits during the week. They are interested in learning about the US judicial system so they will visit Ada County Court, US District court, sentencing hearings and the U of I Law School. An important part of the experience is that the delegates will live with local host families. John and Linda Biggs will be host to Yoga Perdana, a judge who lives in Surabaya, East Java. Cornelia has been organizing the host families. (They'll have to learn about Hala foods and cooking; all the delegates are Muslim!) Janice Fulkerson is the Rotary Host Coordinator. Should be an exciting week for everyone!

The Congressional Office for International Leadership engages members of Congress and their constituents in congressional and citizen diplomacy with political and civic leaders from around the globe. COIL achieves this through the Open World program, a ten-day professional exchange dedicated to strengthening mutual understanding and sharing best practices in accountable governance, civil society, private sector, and the rule of law.
JEMfriends GALA HAS TICKETS
The JEMfriends Gala Event, celebrating 15 years, will be at the Riverside on October 14th. Our club has purchased a table and there are a few spots left. Please let Janet know that you'd like to attend. There's no cost to you! Click here for more details: https://jemfriends.afrogs.org/#/index. Do we have a service we can offer in their auction? WE HAVE TWO TICKETS AVAILABLE AT OUR TABLE!
JEMfriends PROJECT APPROVED
We have supported various efforts of JEMfriends over the years. This is an organization that supports young people who have "aged out" of the foster care system. At last week's board meeting, we approved a $5,000 grant to provide paint, carpet and labor to refresh one their rental houses. Plan on joining the work team the week of November 13. More details to follow.

Note: I met Liberty at the house this week to check it out. Its a pretty simple project. Looks like one day for two experienced painters. One bedroom and a hallway. Date to be determined. Is there an experienced painter that wants to join in ?

MISCELLANY AND MINUTIA
Our Rotary Minute last week was about Rotary Botanical Park in Jaynesville, Minn........World Polio Day is October 24th. Watch for details about a community event.......Janet still has two seats left for the Rotary table at the JEMfriends Gala.......mark you calendar for Oct 25th to carve pumpkins at the Zoo 3-5.......Remember when we bet Sunrise we could  get more members than they could? Well, the prize was a BBQ and they won. So, we need to pay up........
