THIS WEEK - USS IDAHO
Our speaker this week will be Larry Zilli, representing the USS Idaho Commissioning Committee. The USS Idaho is a Virginia Class nuclear sub currently under construction in Rhode Island. She is scheduled to be christened this summer and put into action in 2023. Once she's fully operational, she will NEVER need refueling!!

GRFEENBELT CLEANUP SATURDAY 6/4
Meet at Joe's Crabshack at 10:00AM.
MEET CLAYTON HENDRIX
Clayton Hendrix was inducted to membership last week. He was born, raised and schooled in El Dorado, Nashville, Prescott and Searcy Arkansas. (Bet you've never been there!) Clayton graduated from Harding University with a degree in Business Management. Then he went right to work as a "roughneck" on an oil drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico. After that interesting experience, he went to work for the Texas Department of Banking as a bank examiner, where he served for six years. Clayton married Maggie last year and they immediately moved to Boise, after having experienced this place on a prior vacation. Maggie is a Genetic Counselor, working with cancer patients. Clayton now works in sales for Idaho Timber. They have a new lab puppy named Winnie. Clayton's hobbies are "everything outside". Welcome to the club, Clayton!
REFLECTIONS ON DISTRICT CONFERENCE
We had ten members attend District Conference last week. MO\ost of us had been before, but newbies Amy and Janet were quite impressed! Amy learned a lot about Rotary during the "speed dating" exercise. Her favorite activity was "dumpster diving", learning about food waste from the Ketchum school kitchen. Always one to step up, Amy has agreed to join the District Public Image committee this next year. Janet was impressed in much the same way, coming away with an understanding of the "Power of Rotary at Work". By the way, Tyson has volunteered to be an Assistant Governor and will serve the Emmett and McCall clubs.

JUNE 7th SERVICE - LUNCHES IN THE PARKS
Our June service project is the first Tuesday of June at 12:00, replacing a club meeting. The event spans across 4 sites simultaneously, and requires a few extra steps to get us trained and approved to serve food through the USDA school lunch program.
  1. First, if you can commit to participating on June 7 from noon to 12:30, please sign up here. There are more details here, too.
Two to three people per site is sufficient. The work will be fun and easy.  😊
  2. Prior to serving, you’ll also need to watch this training video.
  3. Lastly, plan to attend our club meeting on May 31 when we’ll learn more about the program through my guest and you can complete a federal Civil Rights form in person.
Lets everyone pitch in!!

TOUR de TUCSON IN NOVEMBER
El Tour de TucsonThe annual el Tour de Tucson will be held on November 19th. This event raises huge amounts of funds for the Polio Plus program, and other non-profits. Rotarians from around the country will ride in a variety of distances over the weekend. Typically, 6000 riders will participate. Jeff will organize a trip for people interested. He'll arrange for a trailer for our bikes. Let Jeff know if you are interested. https://eltourdetucson.org/el-tour-de-tucson/
JEFF LEEDY FUNNIES
Many of you will know Jeff Leedy of Boise Downtown. He is the creator of "artthatmakesyoulaugh.com", a series of single panel "funnies". He has provided us with a whole panel of these funnies that we can put in our weekly bulletin. We hope you will enjoy them. Thanks, Jeff!!
