UNITED WAY PANTRY DRIVE THURSDAY
It may not fall on the second Tuesday this month, but our service project in June will be our easiest one yet. We’ll support this drive-through donation event for the United Way’s Basic Needs Pantry:

Thursday, June 17th from 4-6:30pm, the United Way of Treasure Valley's Women United group will be collecting items for the Homeless Student Basic Needs Pantry. This pantry serves roughly 60 schools throughout the valley. It's our hope to supply school workers who are working through the summer with basic needs items for students who may be experiencing food insecurity and barriers to hygiene while school is not in session. And with a little luck, the pantry will remain nice and stocked for the start of school in August/September.

How to participate! Put your donation in the trunk of your car and enter the United Way parking lot on the east side of the building. You'll be greeted and given instructions to pull around back where volunteers will unload your vehicle for you. You will then exit the parking lot on the west side of the building. So easy! But if you can’t make the event on the 17th, you can also shop off of the United Way's Amazon wishlist.

Items needed
  • Easy-to-eat foods: nuts, seeds (pumpkin, sunflower), dried fruit, protein bars/snack bars/granola bars, tuna pouches (especially if they come with a utensil), crackers, crackers with dried PB or cheese, peanut butter, cookies, beef jerky, popcorn (pre-popped in an individual serving size bag), veggie straws, chips
  • Hygiene items: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors, combs, brushes, tampons, maxi pads, lice kits
JULY 22 SERVICE PROJECT UNITED WAY
All Hands on Deck!

Mark your calendar for our July service project on 7/22. There is a lot to do so this one is all-hands-on-deck! The United Way is holding a literacy party and our Rotary club will be the volunteer labor to help pull it off. Watch for more details and a volunteer sign-up sheet soon. We will need Rotarians to do set-up, staff activity and game booths, read stories to kiddos, provide directions to kids and parents, and help with clean-up afterwards. Bring a friend or family member to help!

WE WON THAT VIDEO CONTEST!
Based upon your tremendous response in voting for District 5400's video entry  "Capture Pollution Before It Escapes," and other judging criteria, Rotary International awarded FIRST PLACE in its video contest to DISTRICT 5400!!!

Congratulations to Kevin Bradshaw, Fred Reed, Ric Gale, Alex Richardson, and our very own ESRAG coordinator Laurie Zuckerman for your tremendous efforts on District 5400's behalf.

We were also awarded Second Place in the People's Choice Awards.  WOW!!!!!

What an amazing effort.  A huge thank you to Kevin, Fred, Ric, Alex, and Laurie and to all of you who voted daily to make our video the international champion.  We may be small, but we have been recognized on the international stage, not only as contenders, but as winners!  So proud of this district!
