THIS WEEK - CLUB ASSEMBLY
This week's meeting will be a Club Assembly, devoted to club news and project updates (and maybe a surprise?) Among things we'll discuss are a possible Fishing Tournament fund raiser, Greenbelt update and a fellowship event called "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?".
QUARTERLY CAUSE - Phone4Charity
Locate your old phones & devices - we can donate them to Phones4Charity who will return cash to us which we can donate to a cause of our choice.

"There are over 800 million retired cell phones discarded in drawers, desks, and storages in the United States with over 140 million more entering the waste stream each year. Phones 4 Charity is a national program designed to remove used cell phones from the country's environment while directly benefiting charitable organizations."
DISTRICT CONFERENCE MAY 17-19
Its not too soon to be making plans for attending this years' District Conference May 17-19. This will be the first year EVER that's it to be held in Boise, instead of Sun Valley. That makes it lot more affordable and provides many more activity options. For the complete schedule and registration information, go to https://rotary5400.org/page/celebrate. There's a substantial discount if you register by March 31.  The District planners are also looking for people to provide "home stays" for our Rotary friends from across the state.
PLANT A TREE!
Tree Planting days are coming soon! We need to help District 5400 reach its goal of planting one tree for each Rotarian. We made great progress last year! To see which clubs participated check out the map! This years' dates are:
  • March 30 - Hulls Gulch
  • April 6 - Deer Flat
  • April 13 - Eagle Island
  • April 27 - Lake Cascade

EL update:  Participating School Principals, Rotarian supporter Bob Rainville, BSU professor Sharon Patterson (Rotarian Sunrise), and YMCA coordinator Kersey Hill met this past week.  We discussed hiring the school teacher liaison to lead the EL programs and have the YMCA staff lead the activities for next year.  This will allow more consistency of adult leadership and classroom / school values to be emphasized (Y has had some turn-over with their staff this year with Dominic marrying / moving, and Clara getting another job).  By end of May we'll have a response from classroom teachers on whether or not they're interested in this role for which they would receive monetary compensation.  This role exchange should not affect Rotary's monetary commitment to program.
