This week we'll meet at noon for a wrapping party at Smoky Mountain Pizza on Park Center. Hopefully, the gifts you ordered on line will have arrived! Its not too late to shop for the JEMfriends kids. The shopping list is in Cornelia's recent email.  Bring scissors, paper, ribbons if you can. We'll offer Pizza for lunch!

A cadre of Metro Rotarians volunteered at the Winter Garden Aglow last Thursday. It was a beautiful night - not too cold and no wind! We wrote letters to Santa, directed traffic, maintained burn barrels and served hot chocolate and cookies!

Boise Metro Rotary was notified this week that it received District 5400 matching grant funding to build Loafing Sheds for the Idaho Youth Ranch's new Equine Therapy Program. Total project estimate is $6950. Our club will provide $3159, the grant is for $3791. Now that the funds have been raised, we will begin planning for a Spring 2022 Service Project to get the shed built. Thanks Tyson for leading this effort.

We are seeing a lot of beaver activity along the river, and are going to be making a concerted effort to get trees wrapped with chicken wire this winter, to protect them from the beavers. This is a great time to get this done, with the vegetation died back for the winter.

 

Beginning the first week of December, we will be hosting a series of tree wrapping work parties on most Thursday's, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., through February. We will tackle a different section of the river corridor each week. Wire, tools, and training will be provided. Specific meeting locations and other details will be sent to volunteers the day before each event.

After considering several alternatives for a new venue for our weekly meetings, the Board has approved the recommendation of our committee to move over to the Towne Place Suites, starting in January. Of the several places considered, this one seems to "check all the boxes". Its located just off Capital, across from BSU, across from Elmers. Thanks to Jeff, Charlene, and Charles for their work on this challenge!

 

Lots of people at last week's meeting....ran out of lunch!.......Cornelia's tan has faded away; she claims to have been in Hawaii......Speaker Derek Blestrud from Idaho Power was very interesting. About cloud seeding to make it snow.....all the Bosches had Covid and recovered to tell about it..........Allan said everything smelled like a locker room.....
