Last Tuesday we held our Passing the Gavel event in Esther Simplot Park. Alli reflected on the accomplishments during her year, in spite of the fact that it was cut short by the virus, and thanked the members who served on her Board. One of the highlights of the year was that as a group, we contributed over $11,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Alli also thanked the "Zoomers" who allowed us to continue to meet during the past three months. Alli then "passed" the gavel to incoming President Will Ellsworth. Will outlined some ideas he has for the coming year, including a "Service" day on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and considering having our summer meetings in person at a city park with a Zoom connection for those not wishing to attend in person. Will credited Alli with introducing him to Rotary and suggested we hold John Schubin responsible if his year is less than spectacular! Will said, "there is no better time to belong to a great organization like Rotary!" Many thanks to Life's Kitchen for a sumptuous spread and to the BiggsJones Band for the entertainment. |
