THIS WEEK - PROJECT AMIGO

Our Speaker This Week! Dora Zuniga from Project Amigo. www.projectamigo.org
I encourage you to check out their website. Here are some key insights about this organization and its connection to Rotary.

Project Amigo’s mission is to support youth in Colima, Mexico (south of Guadalajara) to create their own educational opportunities and better their quality of life. We also offer opportunities for international, life-changing service to those of greater means which is a perfect match for serving significantly, generously and effectively beyond oneself.

Project Amigo owes both its beginnings and its longevity to the “service above self” contributions of thousands of Rotarians and Rotary clubs. We were the official international service “project” of the Rotary Club of Novato, CA between 1996 and 2002. Today we are an independent public charity and asociacion civil recognized in United States, Canada, and Mexico, and we continue to thank Rotarians and Rotary clubs for their deep, generous, and continued support.'

RAMADAN GROCERIES
5th Annual Ramadan Grocery ProjectOnce again, Boise Metro is supporting new Afghani and Syrian immigrants in the local community. We are filling and delivering 60 bags with grocery staples like rice, sugar and garbanzo beans. We'll distribute these grocery bags during Ramadan, Islam's holy month, as a symbol of welcoming and cross-cultural acceptance. If you'd like to donate bags of basmati rice or packages of nuts, bring them to our next meeting. There will also be filled bags ready for delivery. Take a bag and an address and drop it off at your convenience, anytime before April 21 which is Eid al-Fitr, the feast day marking the end of Ramadan.
DISTRICT CELEBRATION APRIL 21-22
Celebration at Boise Riverside Hotel. Registration is open! Here is a link:  Home Page | Rotary District 5400 (rotary5400.org) . Earlybird Registration Price of $250 ends on March 31st! Then it goes up to $325. Don’t Delay!! Check out the agenda, too! You will also be asked to select your dinner options and activities choices. It seems expensive, but at least we don't have to go to Sun Valley! Our club has traditionally helped with expenses, but that hasn't been decided yet.

DISTRICT RAFFLE
Its that time again! Every year our District sells these raffle tickets to support the operating expenses of the District. It is expected that every Rotarian will sell at least ten tickets. The grand prize is amazing! (If you buy all ten tickets from your self, you'll win $15,000 and our club will get $5,000!) There are two book options. There are five tickets @$20 each; or you can get xxxxx if you sell the all to the same person. Also, for every ticket we sell, our club will get $4.00!
