Our program this week will be Julie Bayard from the Agency for New Americans. Several of our members have been volunteering.
"Agency for New Americans (ANA) is a private, non-profit (501C3) organization affiliated with Episcopal Migration Ministries and is a program of Jannus in Boise. I started my ride this AM at 6, ended at 12:45. I rode 101 miles, burned 3049 calories, and rode for 6 hrs, 28 min. total. I was joined by Cahill for an hour, Todd Fischer from downtown for 2 hours, and lots of other fellow cyclists in between. It wasn't as painful or dull as I thought; my legs are sore (last time I rode 100 miles was in Tucson last Nov!), but we watched a movie and listened to music while riding, which passed the time pretty well.
Mark you calendar - we've signed up to prepare and serve the evening meal at Boise Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday, January 17th from 4-6PM. More details to follow! Contact Carrie Westergard of you can help.
"Keeping families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need."
Clear your calendar for Tuesday, December 19th. We'll be volunteering at Winter Gardens Aglow at the Botanical Garden. We'll be tour guides, fire monitors, hot chocolate servers, and whatever else they want us to do. Times 5-9PM. We need 15 volunteers. Contact Cahill Jones to sign up.
You may not appreciate this, but Boise Metro is one the few "Singing Clubs" left! Last week, we put that in jeopardy with our rendition of "Give My Regards to Broadway"......oi!........our guests last week were Ron Onnen Rotarian from Port Angeles (who claims to have been the very first guest when our club was formed back in the day) and Emily Johnson and Liza who are signed up for Road Test Rotary.....Rick H. just returned from a vacation to Spain....cast your vote for or against Nate's facial hair........Thanks to Will Ellsworth and Randy Smith for their talk last week - "How to Make Rotary Part of Your Legacy Planning"......seems technology is always an issue..............
