Bob Rainville, from Boise Sunrise and founder of Everyday Leadership, will join us this week for an update. We have invested $5,000 each year in the program, primarily to support the teacher's work at Garfield Elementary. The program has grown to include all the Title 1 schools in the valley, with plans to expand even further.

 

Our annual Pass the Gavel Banquet will be Tuesday, June 11th at the Cottonwood Grill.  Our special guest will be an encore presentation by popular story-teller Ben Kemper! You recall last year he told about Salmon, from the fishes point of view. We liked him so much that we've invited him back!! The cost of the dinner will be only $10 per person. We'll have a sign up sheet out very soon. So mark your calendar!! Happy Hour starts at 5:30, dinner at 6:30.

 

The Menu:

Our continuing support of JEMfriends, the group that works with kids aging out of foster car, we'll build year-end "Care Packages" for 16 kids. We are asked to fulfill these "wish lists". You can sign up here. Members will be reimbursed for your purchases, so keep your receipts. Funds for the program come from our golf scramble. Bring your items to our meeting on the 28th when we'll assemble the packages.

 

If you haven't volunteered to help out, let Janet know you'll be there. We still need some itrems for our Silent Auction. The weather is going to be perfect!!

Our Rotary Minute, from a Galaxy Far, Far Away, was about band concerts raising funds for Ahlzeimers, in the town in England where the first 3 Star Wars movies were filmed........The Mandella Fellowship folks will be arriving in July. There are opportunities to be involved. There's a contact link in our WhatsApp thread.....Cornelia and Bob were thrilled by The Stones in Vegas..... Mick may be 80 but he can still do it!!............there are a bunch of kids and grandkids graduating from high school......Matt Bishop was really entertaining! We should appreciate his service in Navy, serving on both Iraq and Paraguay. That's where he learned the culture of "tea" in bringing people together. But he admitted that "serving coffee for free is not a good business model". So he got into coffee roasting. You can find Cafe Mule coffee in Winco and Albertsons. Richard the mule has a story of his own!
