NO MEETING THIS WEEK
In honor of the Labor Day Weekend, we will not have a meeting this week. Take a long weekend!
FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Happy Labor Day Weekend! I hope you are surviving the high temperatures. Speaking of labor…we have several September service projects that involve a labor of love as we seek to make our community a better place. As Rotarians, we are People of Action! I hope you will choose one or more of these to exercise your gifts of time, talent and treasure.

September Service Projects
Greenbelt Clean Up – Sept 10 @ 10am Old Joe’s Crab Shack. Our special guest will be Lou, our RYE student from France. Join in the fun and fellowship. This is a family-friendly event!
Wetlands Peace Preserve – Sept 13 @ 5:30pm at Willow Lane Athletic Center. Water, Weed & Enjoy! This is a collaboration with the Treasure Valley Rotary Clubs. See specific details for Summer 2022 effort at: https://rotary5400.org/sitepage/d5400-tree-project/event
Grizzly Cave Collection Project Sept 13. Help Stock the Garfield Elementary School Positive Behavior Incentive System. Needed: Gift Cards ($5-$10), Cash Donations for Prize Purchases. Get your kids involved with picking out great items. Bring your donations on September 13th to present to Garfield’s Community School Coordinator.

KICK BALL TOURNAMENT OCT 1
Join the fun at Willow Lane on Saturday October 1 as Boise Metro fields an exceptional team in the 2nd annual Kick Ball Tournament to raise funds for Polio. We need players (9-12) and cheerleaders! (Note: at least half the team must  be Rotarians, so limited opportunity for ringers). For more information contact Lisa Bearg at Centennial, Lisabearg@gmail.com.
GBRF and RI HONORS THREE MEMBERS
Our club has been well represented on the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation over the years. Bret is the current Board President; Scott will take the reigns next year. If you're not familiar with GBRF, Bob Gibb was a teacher at BSU for years, active all around the community. Rotary clubs in the valley honored his work by sponsoring the Friendship Bridge, crossing the river on campus. The corpus of the Foundation is right about One Million Dollars! Last week, Bret presented Robert Gibb Fellow awards to Scott and Roger; Scott then presented Bret with his Gibb +3 certificate.

In other news, Jeff presented Shiloh with her first Paul Harris Award.
STOCK THE CAVE!
September Service Collection Project!
Have you ever seen a Grizzly Cave? Garfield Elementary School has one! Garfield students are given "Griz bucks" when they are caught displaying values of the school: Respect, Pride, Responsibility, Integrity, and Practicing Safety. Once a week, they can visit the Grizzly Cave and cash in their Griz Bucks for items in the Cave. Items consist of small value to large value. The Cave has been a huge success but it takes a lot to keep it stocked, which oftentimes comes from the school staff donating items. It would be wonderful if Boise Metro could get donations to help the school continue this positive reward system.
What are we collecting?
Small Items: Pencils, Stickers, Snacks, Lollipops, Toys, Games
Children’s books and comic books
$5 to $10 Gift Card Ideas:
  • Food: Jersey Mike's Sub, Mongolian BBQ, Sonic Drive-In, McDonalds, Taco Bell
·        Dessert: Coldstone, Dairy Queen, Westside Drive-In
·        Clothes and General Merch: Fred Meyer, Visa Gift Card
·        Music, Toys or Games: Amazon.com, iTunes, Google Play

Can I give Cash or VENMO and let someone else do the shopping? YES! If you VENMO money to Boise Metro, be sure to put a note that it is for “Grizzly Cave”. If you want to give Cash, donate to Charlene or Jeff and we will obtain needed items. We will be collecting items through Tuesday, September 13th. We will present the gifts to Kelly Case at our meeting that day. She is the Community School Coordinator for Garfield.
