THIS WEEK - SKILLS USA
Skills USA logo
Our program this week will be Andrew Armstrong, Idaho Director of.SkillsUSA, the #1 workforce development organization for students. Fromm 1917, The Smith-Hughes National Vocational Education Act was the first to provide funding to the states for agriculture, homemaking and trade and industrial education. Forty-five years later, the Vocational Educational Act of 1963 specified that vocational student organizations were an essential part of vocational instruction. Today, these organizations are called career and technical student organizations, or CTSOs, and SkillsUSA is one of eight authorized by the U.S. Department of Education.

HOST FAMILY NEEDED NOW!!
We desperately need help identifying two more host families for THIS year who live in the Timberline school district. Unless we find one within a few weeks, there's a chance Ken may have return home for lack of housing options. As it looks, its unlikely that Timberline will have another exchange student next year, so if you know anyone who would like this valuable experience, now is the time to take the opportunity! I need the Club's help I've been through most of my good contacts. The host family does not need to be a Rotarian. Ken would be a normal member of the family and the family's responsibility is to provide room and board. Please reach out to a few contacts personally to gauge some interest. I'm happy to make calls or share some of the Rotary brochures on hosting, too. Please let me know who would consider being a candidate. Hosting is for only 3 months. We need to find one family to host from late November to around March, then April to June.
CAN YOU POLE VAULT NOW?
PROJECT AMIGO TRIP IN 2025?
Hello, friends! As the Service Chair for our club, I’m looking for ways to engage in fun and impactful community and international service. I’ve been exposed to Project Amigo a few times now—at district conference, at our club presentation, and again last month when Dora Zuniga was in Boise. (That’s when Bob and I signed up to sponsor a young man named Steven who wants to be an architect!)

Many Rotary clubs do service trips with Project Amigo, going to Colima for a week, to help the community and work with the youth. I believe Boise Sunrise does a service trip every other year. I think a trip would be successful with Boise Metro Rotary. We only need a minimum of 8 (or up to 24) people. Dora is strongly encouraging us to choose one of the two ESL weeks in July, either the week of 7/6 or 7/13.
