THIS WEEK - STEVE SCRANTON ON THE ECONOMY
Special Speaker Program November 1st!! Our Membership Committee has arranged for Steve Scranton from Washington Trust Bank to present. And you responded! We have RSVPs for 15 guests coming this Tuesday.

Now we need a proper welcome for all these visitors to our club!  I ask each member to be a few minutes early on November 1st so you are on hand to welcome our guests/prospects when they arrive.

It will be a full house on Tuesday. I ask you to make your way through the lunch line and be seated shortly after you arrive. Our goal is to start our program by 12:10pm, 12:15pm at the very latest.

POLIO  RIDE WAS A HIT! RAISED $ FOR POLIO
It was a cold, crispy morning last Saturday for the Polio Foliage Ride. Our Rotary group consisted of 5 brave souls for the 7 miler; Jeff's cycling group added another ten or so for their 22 mile excursion. Plans didn't quite work out as the restrooms in the building had been locked up for the winter, and they'd turned the power off too, so we couldn't enjoy our hot chocolate! Oh well, the DK Donuts were good!  (For the future, I would recommend we do this late spring or early summer!)

It was a great Success! We have already raised $1,900, including support from Rotary Club of Boise East! Bret Vaterlaus is matching the first $1,000 in donations from Boise Metro!! We have matched $900 so far. We still have $100 to go to fulfill his matching pledge! Remember: every one of your dollars turns into $6 with Bret’s and the Gates Foundation matches.
NEW OFFICERS FOR 22-23
This is the time of year that we have to thinking about club officers for 2023-4 Rotary year. (Didn't we just do that?) The bylaws suggest that nominations be completed in November and elections be held by the end of December. As you know, the Rotary year begins July 1.

As of now, we have Janet Hasson as our President-elect, but we need to nominate her successor. Looks like we will also have one open Director at Large position, once Tyson takes over as club Treasurer.

If you'd be interested in a club leadership position, please let Jeff know.

SUPPLIES DRIVE FOR HOLIDAY HELPER
Each year, United Way of Treasure Valley organizes a massive volunteer event called Holiday Helper. Over 300 volunteers will come together on November 10 to fill 3,500 boxes of food and supplies, which will be directed through school counsellors to students experiencing homelessness in the Treasure Valley.

Our club donated a gift tree last year. This year, United Way has asked us for donations of protein-rich foods like peanut butter (in small jars), tuna (ready-to-eat and includes a spoon), and warm winter socks (all sizes). Let’s pitch in and fill that need! On November 1 and November 8, bring donations of any of those items to our regular Rotary meeting. If you don’t wish to shop, Venmo Cornelia.

Watch this video about last year's event.
