HAPPY HOLIDAY!!

FROM THE PRESIDENT
December’s Rotary theme of Disease Prevention and Treatment continues this week as we welcome Dr. Kurt Nilsson as our program speaker to educate us on Concussions. Prevention, proper detection and treatment of Concussions have made the news of late in professional sports. The reality is that we can all be impacted by concussions in our daily life. Accidents while skiing, cycling, or just slipping bad on the ice can lead to a concussion injury. Come learn more!

Fellowship Success It was so great to see so many turnout for Fellowship and Gift Wrapping last Wednesday night at Smoky Mountain Pizzeria Grill in the Sage Room! Thanks to all of our club members who generously contributed for gift purchases to brighten these young adults' holiday season.
Special thanks go to:
  • Cornelia Sprung for getting the Christmas wish list going
  • Scott Swan who made the special delivery to the JEM Friends Holiday Party!

Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday filled with the peace and joy of the season.

THIS WEEK - DR. NILSSON ON CONCUSSIONS
Our speaker this week will be Dr. Kurt Nilsson, from the Sports Medicine Department at St. Luke's . He'll be talking about sports concussions. Dr. Nilsson is a team physician for the College of Idaho, the US Ski Team, and US Soccer Federation; and has served as a concussion consultant for USA Cycling. He has also served as the medical director of the St. Luke’s Concussion Clinic since it inception in 2011 and is medical director for St. Luke’s Applied Research.
JEM GIFTS PROJECT COMPLETED
Our annual project to provide Christmas gifts to the young people at JEMfriends has been completed! Every item on the "wish list" was accounted for! Last Wednesday our team wrapped all the gifts while enjoying pizza. Scott piled it all into his car and delivered it to the kid's party venue. JEMfriends is a housing and support program for people who have "aged out" of the foster care system. Thank you Rotarians for you generosity!
NEW GREENBELT MEETING PLACE
Our next date for Greenbelt Cleanup will be Saturday, January 7th. Please note that since the construction at Joe's/  Ling & Louie's has taken our parking area, we'll meet at a new place: the far end of the parking lot at the Riverside, closest to the Sandbar. There's an interpretive sign there about Riparian stuff. We understand that plans are in the works to produce a club promotional video that day so we'll need some bodies! 11:00AM.
COMPLETE THE CLUB SURVEY
Janet Hasson, with the help of Lori Apel, our Assistant Governor, has created a custom survey to learn more about the membership's feelings about our club. If you haven't seen it yet, look for this email:  rotarydistrict5400@gmail.com via SurveyMonkey. Please complete your survey no later than Friday so we can compile the results.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
This week's meeting will be the last one of 2022! We will not meet again until January 10th. Remember, it'll be at Smoky Mountain. The entire staff of the Boise Metro Bulletin wishes you a Merry Christmas and the finest of New Years as they take a hiatus for a few weeks. We'll publish again on January 8th.
