THIS WEEK - ADUs
Byron Folwell, Architect / Designer will explain the benefits of Accessory Dwelling Units that the city is proposing.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are a second, smaller dwelling that can be built on a property already occupied by a single-family home. ADUs require design standards that include both specific materials and façade/appearance requirements that are compatible with other homes in the area. ADUs must also be placed on a permanent foundation.

ADUs are not “tiny homes on wheels,” as these mobile dwellings are considered recreational vehicles or campers by the city’s development code. Such tiny homes are prohibited from being classified as ADUs by the city’s development code. Additionally, due to the mobile nature of tiny homes on wheels, they pose additional regulation challenges in terms of building safety, life safety, and relevant area design standards.

DISTRICT GRANT IDEAS
Our Board has approved the concept of joining with Boise Sunrise again to support a District Grant for Everyday Leadership. We'd match up to $5,000 for the school year 2021-22. Clubs in the District may only have one District grant at a time. So its important for us to consider any other projects that might be worthy of a grant. If you have ideas, contact Alli.

POSSIBLE SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Matt is asking us to think about some service opportunities he's come across:
  • Re-Leaf Boise April 25th. Plant trees in city street rights-of-way
  • Cook a dinner for JEMfriends at a mentoring event
  • There's a coffee cart for sale. Is that an opportunity?
  • Cook dinner for Vets at the new Valor Home
  • Join District teams to plant saplings in the parks
ODDS 'N ENDS
We had three dinner groups for our second annual "Guess Who's Coming for Dinner?" last Saturday........Many thanks to our hosts, Weymouth, Bosch and Westergard.....Noa, our Youth Exchange student from Japan has learned to ski and loves it! If you're heading up the mountain, take her along......John was surprised that no one at last week's meeting had ever visited one of his "obscure" parks........now they want to......the Board approved a three year commitment of $5 per member to help fund the District tree planting effort..... watch for details about an election of next year's club officers in February.........year end banquet date has been changed to June 23......
