THIS WEEK - INL
Our speaker this week will be Ethan Huffman, from the Idaho National Laboratory. Ethan leads marketing and public outreach efforts for INL’s National and Homeland Security division. He has worked at INL for more than 10 years, primarily supporting the lab’s national security and public affairs missions. He will give an overview of what they call Industrial Control Systems.  We can ask him about the report we heard on the news about INL getting involved in Covid-19 testing and tracing.
FOOD FOR RAMADAN
Once again, Cornelia is stepping up to assist the Muslim community with a food drive for the Ramadan Holiday. It’s the period from April 23 through May 23; a period of fasting from dawn to dusk, ending with a feast day called Eid-al-Fitr.

Click here to see the list of items that are needed. Drop off items at Cornelia’s or she can arrange for a pick up. You can also volunteer to make no-contact deliveries. A handwritten note of support and encouragement  would be helpful; our kids could draw pictures!
SELL THOSE DISTRICT RAFFLE TICKETS!
The annual District Raffle Sale is under way! This is our District's major fund raiser for the year, supporting the work we do in lots of different areas. The prizes are amazing!! Each member is asked to sell a packet of 10 tickets. You can buy them yourself or hit up your friends. Here's the link to get you started. Note that you have to purchase each ticket individually, adding them to your cart before checkout. You can avoid the processing fee by sending a check to the PO Box. Thanks for you support! (Here's an idea: instead of going out to eat, use your money to buy raffle tickets!)

As with last year, we will have the Triple Grand Prize! The winner receives a $4500 AAA Travel Voucher, plus, the seller receives a $4500 AAA Travel Voucher, and the club associated with winning ticket gets a $4500 check from the District!  The Travel Voucher can be used for any commercially available travel offered by AAA and does not expire.  Proceeds can be broken up to pay for multiple trips, and the voucher can be re-gifted to anyone. The Second Prize is a condo stay in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico plus $1000 to use for airfare. The third prize is $500 at Best Buy.
D5400 REMOTE LUAU MAY 15TH
HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND THE LUAU
As District 5400 Membership Chair, I get to have a lot of conversations about new Rotary members and importantly, keeping the Rotary members we've got. Our more recent membership calls have focused on membership retention. In the Covid-19 period, we have also discussed taking care of our Rotarians, the members of our own clubs. In just three short weeks,  we all have an opportunity to take care of each other and honor our good work as Rotarians.

On Friday, May 15th Rotary District 5400 will be having its annual conference (now called a Celebration) called 20-20 Vision: Seeing the Future. This is an ongoing opportunity to come together as a district consisting of 44 Rotary clubs all over central and southern Idaho and a smidge of Oregon. These are clubs just like yours that work hard all year long to make a difference in their communities and across the world...by raising funds for scholarships, feeding the hungry and generating polio vaccinations. There is something very powerful when a group of people like that come together in one place, and in this instance that place will be in a virtual Zoom conference.
