GOLF UPDATE
LOOKING FOR KIDS BOOKS
HomeThe Annual United Way of Treasure Valley Children's Book Drive is March  11-29. Look around your house (or the grandkids) for gently used kids books and bring them to the next two Rotary meetings. We'll see that they get delivered to the drop off location. Then, April 1-5 you can volunteer to clean and sort the books.

United Way provides these statistics:
  • 61% of families dealing with financial instability lack books in the home for children.
  • In 2022, only 60.4% of Idaho's third graders were reading at grade level.
  • Providing a wealth of books to these children can help break the link between povert and poor economic outcomes.
NEXT WETLAND PEACE PRESERVE
I am reaching out to introduce myself and provide you with information about the 2024 Wetland Peace Preserve project dates to share with your members. My name is Audrie Floyd and Laurie Zuckerman has been training me these past few months to become the Wetland Peace Preserve’s new Volunteer Coordinator. I am very excited to be assisting Rotarians, Interactors, and friends in getting out to the preserve once a month to address the current needs.

Saturday, April 20th 10:00 am-11:00 am Wetland Peace Preserve and Minga Mundial Details and sign up can be found here.

Week by week, and year after year, we’ve replaced invasive weeds with Idaho natives that support wildlife along the Boise River wildlife corridor and a peaceful respite in the heart of Boise. We would love to have members from your club participate.

CITY HAS GREENBELT PROJECT 3/30
Kristrin Gnojewski has reached out to let us know that Parks & Rec is working on organizing a group (8 – 10 volunteers) to do a large-scale cleanup in the riparian area between Americana and the Trestle bridge on Saturday, March 30th from 10 am to noon.  That's our section of the Greenbelt, but along the river's edge. This needs to be done before high water this spring. We plan to meet in the northwest corner of Ann Morrison Park (see attached map) and walk to the greenbelt from there. Please let John Biggs know if you are able to participate.

RAMADAN GROCERY PROJECT
Ramadan is the holy month of the Islamic calendar. It’s a month-long period of fasting, (3/10 to 4/9) followed by a feast day celebration that’s also a day of giving gifts and doing acts of kindness. For you Christians, you might think of like Lent, followed by Christmas Day! 😊 To acknowledge our local refugee community, many of whom are Muslim, our club will once again support the Ramadan Grocery Project this year. You can help:
  1. Donate food (or money for food) to Cornelia who heads up the annual service project.  You can find her on Venmo and PayPal. Deliver a completed gift bag.
Appropriate shopping items would include:
Reusable shopping bags – you can sometimes find these for $1
Basmati rice – India Market on Fairview has 10# bags
Olive oil – any size, any brand
Whole dates – These are usually in produce
