THIS WEEK - CLUB ASSEMBLY
FUN DISTRICT CONFERENCE IN SUN VALLEY
Ten of us Metro Rotarians enjoyed the District Conference in Sun Valley this weekend......that's probably a record for attendance! What a fun time we had! The Sun Valley Resort did a great job with our meals and District Leadership had arranged a variety of activities. Our featured speaker at the Saturday night banquet was retired Air Force pilot Brian Shul who spent his "second life" piloting the SR-71. Fascinating and inspirational story!

Sad to report that none of us won the grand prizes. Darn! But at least Cornelia won TWO raffle prizes. Our club's raffle entry, the "ring of gift cards" was a very popular item, raising a lot of money! We earned FIRST PLACE in Rotary Foundation per capita giving!   Click here to see more photos from the event! Click on slide show for best effect!

THEY HITCH HIKED TO SUN VALLEY!
Cornelia and Amy left Boise for Sun Valley early Friday Morning, Cornelia driving her fully charged Chevy Bolt. The battery status meter said 250 miles. Oops. They arrived in Fairfield only to discover --no more juice! They put out a frantic call on our WhatsApp network, hoping one of us would come along shortly to their rescue.  Seems everyone had already gone by. What to do. Figuring they should be safe together, what the heck...let's hitchhike! After just a few minutes they were picked up by Courtney and her horse trailer who took them all the rest of the way! Meanwhile, Cornelia's Bolt is plugged in at Fairfield, awaiting her return!
JUNE 7th SERVICE - LUNCHES IN THE PARKS
Our June service project is the first Tuesday of June at 12:00, replacing a club meeting. The event spans across 4 sites simultaneously, and requires a few extra steps to get us trained and approved to serve food through the USDA school lunch program.
  1. First, if you can commit to participating on June 7 from noon to 12:30, please sign up here. There are more details here, too.
Two to three people per site is sufficient. The work will be fun and easy.  😊
  2. Prior to serving, you’ll also need to watch this training video.
  3. Lastly, plan to attend our club meeting on May 31 when we’ll learn more about the program through my guest and you can complete a federal Civil Rights form in person.
Lets everyone pitch in!!

TOUR de TUCSON IN NOVEMBER
El Tour de TucsonThe annual el Tour de Tucson will be held on November 19th. This event raises huge amounts of funds for the Polio Plus program, and other non-profits. Rotarians from around the country will ride in a variety of distances over the weekend. Typically, 6000 riders will participate. Jeff will organize a trip for people interested. He'll arrange for a trailer for our bikes. Let Jeff know if you are interested. https://eltourdetucson.org/el-tour-de-tucson/
