NO MEETING THIS WEEK! HAPPY LABOR DAY!
GREENBELT CLEAN!
We cleaned the Greenbelt on Saturday. Lots of traffic! We found a broken sprinkler head and reported it to Parks and Rec. Wait 'till you see the new Ling and Louie's~! Wow! Starting next month we can park there like we used to. Did you know there is an ownership connection to the Riverside? That explains the bridge and walkway over the creek.
GBRF PICNIC RAIN SHORTENED
Last week's picnic gathering of the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation (GBRF) was damped by lousy weather. Scott explained that the foundation was created in 2010 as a way for the 8 Rotary clubs in Ada County to support worthwhile local projects. Since that time the foundation has awarded over $280,000 in grants. The corpus is now about $850,000. Grant applications are now being accepted. It is anticipated that about $40,000 will be awarded this year. There is one "large" grant of up to $25,000and 3 or 4 smaller ones. OPEN WORLD UPDATE
Cornelia has reported that the dates of Open World, which involves us hosting a team of professionals from Indonesia, has been changed to October 13-21. She emailed:

Note that the Open World program requires we supply delegates with a private bedroom and a bed. A floor sleeping bag or a shared bedroom won’t do. The bathroom, however, may be shared.

We have also been asked if we can provide pet-free homes for the Muslim delegates. That might be the biggest factor in making placements. If you do have a pet but they could be kept outside or offsite during the homestay period please let me know that, too.

I’ll also supply some guidelines around halal cooking—more to come on food later. Once I have hosts signed up, I’ll switch to What’s App to communicate with all hosts at the same time.

Let me know if you have questions. And thank you for your peace-building efforts and international service!  ❤
