We believe in creating an Idaho where girls are able to access outdoor adventure, connect with their inner self, gain support in their personal growth, and emerge as courageous and confident female leaders. Our outdoor adventure programs for girls ages 12-18 provide engaging and supportive experiences to explore, grow, and lead. We are a girl-focused and girl-led organization, centering their voice in our decision-making to best meet the needs of teen girls in our community.
This week we introduce our newest member, REESE BARKER. Reese was born in Boise, attended High School at McCall/Donnelly and earned advance degrees at U of I and the University of Portland. She has been an RN in the cancer unit at St. Luke's for 12 years. Some of us know her husband, Michael, who was a member of our club years ago and is currently a member of Centennial. They have three children, Adelaide, Dublin and Cardiff, sometimes referred to as "Reeses Pieces". Reese's hobbies include gardening, hiking, travel and reading (she reads 50 books a year!) Welcome, Reese!!
Thank you, thank you for helping us host our 8 inbounds this year! We have a great group and they are lucky to have your clubs looking after them this year. It seems that once we start one cycle, it's already time start planning the NEXT cycle, and so here we go...
Similar to the Open World Program several of us Rotarians participated in last fall, the US State Dept supports YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Inititiative). There is a group of young pros coming to Boise this month and two more host families are needed. If you're interested, contact Janice Fulkerson.
JEMFRIENDS is holding their annual Golden Gala on September 20th at JUMP. They are one of the organizations that we support through our golf tournament. So, we have purchased a table for 8 at the event for $1,000. Come hear inspirational stories from the youth who are participating, a live auction, raffle and more. Doors open at 5:00, the events starts at 6:00. We need four couples to accept the invitation. Let Mary know if you want to attend.
Lots of folks for Saturday's Boise River Cleanup, sponsored by Idaho Rivers United. We did our regular section with a good crew!........the presentation from Molly Lenty anhd Ash Smith last week about CWI was interesting. They've done amazing things in just 16 years..........our Rotary Minute was about youth skill development in Nigeria.......Bret went back-packing with the grandkids to Indepdence Lakes. But "no open fires" order complicated thier dinner plans......It was great to be back at The Stonehouse! Taco lunch was delicious! Our host Ryland took good care of us......We were visited by Jason Brown from State College Pa Rotary who was headed to Seattle for a ShelterBox event.......
