This week features a field trip to the Lucky Peak Power Plant at the dam! We'll enjoy a tour by Holly Brinkley, who works for the Lucky Peak Power Plant Project. We'll meet there at noon or, if you prefer, we can car pool from Smoky Mountain Pizza, meet there at 11:45. See below for more details about the tour and where to meet. We need a head count so, if you haven't already, let Janet know by Monday morning. Box lunches will be provided! |
Last week we were honored to welcome 2023-24 District Governor Marie Baker, from the Nampa Rotary Club. Ours was the first of about 40 club visits that she'll do by the end of the year! Marie related how impressed she was with the youngsters at RYLA and her experiences working at Rotary service projects around the District. She urges us to "Kick it up a Notch", invite others to join us and share the Rotary message. In the words of this year's theme, we can "Create Hope in the World".
Our Youth Exchange Student, Andrea from Italy, will arrive at the Boise airport at 6:00PM on Thursday, August 10th. Plan on joining the welcoming committee!.JPG)
Some of us have been around long enough to remember our participation in the One World program in 2016 when we hosted a group of Siberian doctors for a week. Well, we have a new opportunity coming this October when we'll welcome a group of lawyers from Indonesia! There are logistical challenges, or course, but for now be thinking about your ability to host one of them in your home. Cornelia is in charge of finding hosts. Lots more information to come!
Notable guests last week - Former District Governor Kevin Learned, current Assistant Governor Lisa Bearg, visiting 40 year Rotarian from Kansas, Bob Moore and, of course, current District Governor Marie Baker.......our Rotary minute was about a beach clean-up project in Thailand.....Scott reports that his son and his buddy really enjoyed RYLA......Schubin's will be Andrea's second host family......congratulations go to Carrie Westergard on achieving her Paul Harris + 2.......
