THIS WEEK - BE SMART
EVERYDAY LEADERSHIP IS AWESOME!
Last week we learned a lot about the Everyday Leadership program and specifically about our sponsor school, Garfield Elementary. Bob Rainville, from Boise Sunrise Rotary, has been passionate about this program right from its beginning in 2013. He explained that the mission of the program is  to "increase the odds that low income kids will graduate from High School and go on".  There are currently six Boise schools in the program, and 142 kids, with more to be added. Sonia Galaviz, our Teacher Liaison, told about the challenges these kids face and how our involvement can be critical to their futures.
GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER! LAST CALL!
Last call to sign up for dinner! Our second GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER event will be Saturday, January 11th. Here's how it works: You can sign up to be either a "host" or a "guest". If you are a guest, you will be told where to go for a fine Rotary dinner at an undisclosed member's home.  Guests come empty handed; you are not allowed to bring anything ( you could bring your favorite  adult beverage to share, but not required). If you are a "host", able to sit 6 to 8 people, you will prepare the entire meal. You will not know who your guests will be.  This is for singles or couples, assignments will be random and secret. Sign up sheets will be available in early December. (You can also download the sign up sheet from our website, under "club documents")  iSign ups must be received by December 15th.This is a fun way to get to know your fellow Rotarians!  WE NEED HOSTS!
SUPPORT GARFIELD FOOD DRIVE
Please bring your donation of canned goods to this Tuesday's meeting, December 17th. Your Everyday Leadership team will be there to collect them. We will deliver them that afternoon to Garfield Elementary School as Boise Metro Rotary's participation in their Food Pantry Drive. Let's help fill that box!

HOLIDAY FELLOWSHIP
Last Sunday afternoon Rotarians gathered at Potter Winery for holiday fellowship and to wrap the gifts we had bought for the JEMFriends kids. Cornelia will arrange to have the gifts delivered this week.

FISHING DERBY NEEDS COMMITTEE
Last spring we held our first ever Fishing Derby at the pond at Eagle Island State Park. A fine time was had by all with lots of fish caught and some amazing prizes! We would like to make this an annual event for our club, scaling it up to become a major fund raiser. Last year's Committee chair was Dave Wilson but he needs to back off this year so he can get married (!) So the Fishing Derby Committee needs a new chair and crew. All the work has been done, i.e. we don't have to reinvent the wheel, but there is stuff that has to be done pretty soon. If you're interesting in knowing more, contact Dave.
ODDS 'N ENDS
It was very nice of the Garfield kids to send us home-made Thank You cards.......our Sargent at Arms levied a fine on everyone who had all their original teeth (what?).........no meetings on Dec 14th or Dec 31st......ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS!!
