Make sure a few of them are dirt

OUr speaker this week will be Nikisha Chapman from the Idaho Department of correction's program called "Free2Succeed".
Free2Succeed is the Idaho Department of Correction's community mentorship initiative. Mentoring returning citizens through critical and often difficult times will not only provide necessary guidance and support but also, quite possibly, for their loved ones. Mentors come from all walks of life, all ages, and a variety of economic, social, and educational backgrounds.
Clearwater Landscaping started work on the Greenbelt project last week and they have made great progress! We should be laying bricks this week.
We have met our fundraising goal with commitments from our three Rotary clubs to make up the small shortfall.  Here's what happens next:
  • Cornelia will be heading up a team to install the landscaping elements
  • We'll close our brick orders on August 20th and get order #2 into production
  • The DAR ladies are working on the final funds to move their monument
  •  We'll begin working with Trademark and City Arts & History on the designs and text for the interpretive signs
  • Look for a fellowship event in September.
We hope to have everything completed by around November 1st!
AUGUST is membership month for Rotary.  We are always looking to grow our membership.  Inviting someone to have lunch with you at Rotary is a great way to expose someone to Rotary.  Just ask someone to come have lunch and attend a meeting.  Over the years I have recruited at least a dozen members to Rotary just by inviting someone to lunch.   It’s that easy, but that’s the magic tip.

Please join us on Friday, September 27th, 6:00 pm for a banquet and live auction fundraiser at The Grove Hotel (Downtown, Boise) as we make a huge difference for youth who have aged out of foster care. Come hear the inspiring stories of our resilient JEMfriends youth and JEMfriends vision to continue to bring support to Idaho's youth aged-out of foster care. Funds raised at the event go directly to the operation of the JEMfriends programs allowing us to continue to provide housing, life skills classes, mentorship, and community for our JEMfriends youth.

Buck Harris, our club treasurer for lo these many years, has decided to step down from that position. President Alli has asked that members consider taking on that responsibility. The job description would include maintaining club accounts, paying invoices, dues billing, District and R.I. reporting, financial reporting to the Board, etc. Let Alli know if you'd be interested. Salary $00.00.
Shiloh is the new chair of our "Sunshine" Committee........we are looking into ways to be more involved with Everyday Leadership...........Mark your calendar for the evening of October 23rd visioning......congrats to Mary reiman who awarded another Paul Harris pin for her work at District Conference.........
