Our guest this week will be Cameron Crow, founder and editor of a new digital community involvement space called "Make Idaho Better'. The motto is "Considering Ideas and Thinking Out Loud". Check it out, its a fascinating platform!
Last Friday we met with folks from Parks and Rec at the site to go over the details and make sure there were no unanswered questions. The contractor will begin the groundwork part of the project next Wednesday! Final completion of his work no later than Sept 15th. The interpretive signs and monument move will come later, after we raise a bit more money. Watch for news of a special fellowship event on the weekend of September 21st. ITS NOT TOO LATE TO BUY A BRICK!
AUGUST is membership month for Rotary. We are always looking to grow our membership. Inviting someone to have lunch with you at Rotary is a great way to expose someone to Rotary. Just ask someone to come have lunch and attend a meeting. Over the years I have recruited at least a dozen members to Rotary just by inviting someone to lunch. It’s that easy, but that’s the magic tip.
Please join us on Friday, September 27th, 6:00 pm for a banquet and live auction fundraiser at The Grove Hotel (Downtown, Boise) as we make a huge difference for youth who have aged out of foster care. Come hear the inspiring stories of our resilient JEMfriends youth and JEMfriends vision to continue to bring support to Idaho's youth aged-out of foster care. Funds raised at the event go directly to the operation of the JEMfriends programs allowing us to continue to provide housing, life skills classes, mentorship, and community for our JEMfriends youth.
Brock Ellsworth, Will's son, has an Eagle Scout project we can help with. He's collecting food items for Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Center. Please bring any shelf stable food items to our next meeting - he'll pick them up then.
This quarter’s drive is for school supplies to support Garfield students, many of which we support through Everyday Leadership. Here’s a list of their needs. I set the goal for 20 filled backpacks this year, so each row represents one full backpack (each column represents the individual item needed). As I get confirmation that people have purchased them, I’ll update the sheet so people can see what items are needed. For example, there are 19 of 20 rows filled in the Backpack column, which means we only need 1 more backpack to reach the goal! If you get more than one of any described item, please let me know the count as well; Amazon oftentimes sells packs of these items for a much better price.
Buck Harris, our club treasurer for lo these many years, has decided to step down from that position. President Alli has asked that members consider taking on that responsibility.
