Our guest this week will be Trevor Caughlin......a professor at Boise State's Biology Department. He'll tell us about the importance of a healthy tree canopy.
A tree canopy is the top layer of a tree or forest, formed by leaves, branches, and stems that cover the ground. They provide critical environmental benefits, including cooling air through shade and evapotranspiration, mitigating heat, improving air quality, and managing storm water runoff. Canopies also create essential, biodiverse habitats and reduce energy use in cities.
Our 4th annual Golf Scramble is set for June 15th at Quail Hollow. This is our major fundraiser of the year! We need golfers to register. A foursome costs $500 which includes greens fees, cart, prizes and two lunches. Go to https://boisemetrorotarygolf.org/
Every year, our District sells raffle tickets in conjunction with the District Conference. Every Rotarian is encouraged to participate! Funds are used to finance District projects and a portion comes back to each club for their own projects. The prizes are amazing! Remember, if you are the winner, and you had sold the ticket to yourself, you get double!
In a roundabout way, Anne Woodhouse has made the aquaintance of a film producer from Nepal who has produced a film to show how the snow leopards have become endangered. Turns out, these beautiful animals like to eat goats, the primary livestock of the mountain people. This is about efforts to protect the leopards. See it at The Flicks on April 27th. Tickets are $15.00.
